Pretty awesome performance when overclocked.
Although this isn't officially supported for overclocking, almost any z-170 (such as the ASRock Pro 4s) can overclock the non-k cpus so long as you don't mind reverting the bios. I have mine clocked at 4.1-4.3 Ghz and it is noticeable how much faster it is and not much hotter either. Although if you go this route I would recommend water cooling to help the chip stay a little cooler and last a little longer, but I do recommend the 6400, or the 6500 depending on whichever is cheaper at the time you decide to buy.

Recomendable %110

Perfect for Gaming
Not a bad CPU. Bought it for a gaming PC but I am impressed with it's performance when you consider the clockspeed is 2.7GHz to 3.1GHz. It will play 8K videos on YouTube's VP9 codec without dropping many frames at all.

Great Value CPU!
I've been using this CPU for a few months now and I have to say that it has performed consistently well even under demanding open-world games. Clearly it is not a high-end i7, but in terms of value for money, I think this CPU performs very well. As long as you are not streaming or rendering 4k video, you should be alright with this CPU. I have mainly used it for gaming and daily browsing, however it can cope with video editing. If you are looking to combo this CPU with a Graphics card, I would suggest pairing it with either an RX 480 or a GTX 1060, as from experience these two components can form a very capable mid-range gaming PC. One of the only negatives I have found with this CPU is slight stuttering in demanding open-world games such as Watch Dogs 2; in high-speed driving scenes I did experience some small frames drops but managed to tweak the setting to suit it.If you are looking for a PC with a solid upgrade path, I would suggest purchasing a Z170/Z270 Motherboard as you may decide you want to overclock in the future. Also, Intel have released their new series of CPU's- "Kaby Lake", so you might want to look into one of them. The equivalent of this CPU, offering marginal performance differences is the i5 7400. If it is cheaper I would suggest picking up one of these as it is better value, you could combo it with a Z270 or a more budget motherboard for great performance at a fairly low price. But to conclude this review, I was pleased with my purchase and strongly recommend it for a home, work or gaming PC. If you can pick it up for under £150 it is a good deal. (Sorry for the bad quality picture, I had to use my iPhone 6 which doesn't take well to RGB LED's)
