Quick Fix To Adjust Claw Reach
Overall it took me 4 hours and 5 minutes to complete. It would have taken about 1 hour less time if my wife wasn’t distracting me. It took another hour of test driving, fine tuning, and re-adjusting the location of where to fasten one of the long arms. If you follow the initial guidance by the instructions, your claw will never be able to reach low enough to touch the surface.I’ve marked the spot where you should reposition one of the longer parts. This new position will allow your claw to touch the surface. Not sure how it will affect its strength and leverage though. I am sure it does to some degree, so take my advice with some caution.

Still building it
My 14 year old son has dedicated a lot of time in building this robot. He has confronted setbacks but has managed to keep going.Almos 24 hours in 4 days. He is enjoying the building process.

Would buy again.
Felt compelled to write a review as it did not have many reviews and some of the other reviews had me on the fence as to whether or not to buy.My 8 year old and I loved the experience of building this robot. The instructions are easy to follow (pictures only), you just need to pay attention to detail as far as how each piece is oriented.Battery life has been good - at least 20 minutes of play between charges and it hasn't completely died on us yet - just became more sluggish. The gripper claw has been able to pick up quite a few different items. It's not industrial strength but it's fine for a kid's toy.Maybe I got a good one based on the other reviews, but this one is a 10/10 and would buy again.

Save your money on this one!
I've done my share of kit building in the last year or so and of all the kits I've completed, this piece of junk is the worst I've encountered.1, The instructions are vague and, in some cases the colors don't have enough contrast to stand out enough. this requires a magnifying glass.2. Every screw starts out cross threaded and requires jiggling about to get seated correctly.3. Upon assembly, holes do not line up correctly so, in four places, when the screw will not engage, I resorted to large toothpicks and crazy glue.4. The routing instructions for the wiring are again, vague.5. Only half of the controls work.Usually, I dissemble my models and pass them on the the local kids hospital. This one is bound for the trash heap.

Use Locktight and real tools
A Christmas gift for my 8 yr old. Off-hand it reminds me of old Erector Sets just not as well designed. Although well packaged, the manual illustrations are poor. It actually would benefit with quality control and removing color because the color contrast and tiny, busy layout makes it difficult to distinguish detail. The dowel fasteners are hilariously useless. That’s where Locktight comes in. Glue the stupid things in place instead of the mystery microscopic set-screw and useless suppled screwdriver. A real Allen-head screwdriver set, needle-nose pliers and flashlight are worth its weight in gold. After much cursing and sort-of assembly it basically works when the flakey wireless stays connected. The controller seems to belong to another device entirely as most buttons are useless. As a father-son project it’s a mostly father cussing and son watching. Good times to remember.

Wire ripped out
I would give this 5 stars but ultimately we had to send it back because of an assembly problem. Here’s what happened: when we were assembling the robot, we plugged one wire into the wrong port, and when I tried to unplug it to fix the mistake, the clip at the end of the wire just would not come out. I tried tweezers, but no go. Ultimately the wires came out but the clip stayed in. I would suggest to the manufacturer that they make the wire ports and clips differently so you can plug and unplug them, since this is learning toy. Also, if u need to return this item, just know that it won’t fit in its original box unless u completely disassemble it.
