Q: Is the keyboard included or is this simply the stand?

This is only the stand. Make sure to get the extended 20" cord keyboard, since it works better with the stand.

Q: is there any health downside to longterm tenting of keyboards like this?

The whole point of the tented keyboards is to prevent negative health effects, particularly carpal tunnel syndrome. Although I've heard since that some doctors have concluded that flat keyboards don't cause carpal tunnel syndrome, but I'm not sure who to believe there. I can say that when people "talk with their hands" they generally hold their hands with thumbs up, I can say in using the tented keyboard now for several years, that it does feel like a very natural position for my hands. A flat single piece keyboard on a standard table requires three unnatural stresses on the wrists... 1) too high 2) twist wrists so fingers are horizontal rather than vertical 3) twist wrists so fingers are aligned with straight rows of keys, rather than co-linear with the arm. A proper height keyboard tray resolves #1, a split keyboard resolves #3, and the tented keyboard resolves #2. I haven't developed carpal tunnel since switching to the split tented keyboard on a proper height keyboard tray, but then again, maybe I wouldn't have anyway. I find it very comfortable, though.

This is specifically designed to work with the Kinesis Freestyle keyboard.
