Yes. To be honest I don't remember if they are AAA or AA. My boyfriend put all the batteries in the Christmas toys. However I do know the tank charges off the remote or to save battery life of the remote control you can charge the tank using a usb cable and your computer. I think the usb cable was included. There were several remote control toys between my grandchildren so I'm not 100% sure if it was included or not.
