Does this set not include 8in cable to make 16in circular as the other Chiaogoo complete sets do?

No. It comes with 24", 32", & 40" lengths - one each with the small connector & one with the large connector - for a total of 6 cables.

Are these 4 or 5 inch needles?

I believe these are the 5" needles - the code for the 5" needles is 7500-C on the Chiagoo website (7400-C for the 4" ones).

How long are the needle tips?

Depends on what set you purchase. I recommend that you check out the product descriptions on the Chiaogoo website (https://www.chiaogoo.com) before you purchase a set from Amazon if you can't tell the needle size from the Amazon vendor's description. Sometimes it's buried.

Do these needles come with directions how to connect the cables firmly...do they become loose as one knits?

No directions that I saw. There is a T-pin that seems to help give me a better grip to tighten the needles. I've only used them once and they did keep slipping before I used those pins to tighten. Once tight, they seemed to stay that way!
