Worth Its Premium Price; EXCELLENT Form of Magnesium
All Magnesium is Not Created Equal. If you're taking magnesium supplements for their health benefits, you are much better served by taking a Chelated form, rather than simple (and cheaper) Magnesium Oxide. Chelation, in this context, simply means that the magnesium has been combined with the amino acid glycine. It's complicated, but the simplest explanation is that the amino acid works synergistically with the magnesium, to enhance the mineral's absorption into your body's cells. Believe me, I've tried many magnesium supplements over the years and this, by far, is my hands-down favorite, even at its "Cadillac" price. If you're taking this to help maintain a normal heart rhythm, it's worth the price. Also, if you're trying to avoid muscle cramps, aid your digestion, sleep better, or just feel better in general, it's the go-to, Premium Choice. My second-favorite brand just replaced 80% of its chelated form with cheaper magnesium oxide. And guess what? 3/4 of the way through the bottle, my body knew it. My electolyte levels got out of balance, I started having midnight wakeups, then, in a few weeks, muscle cramps, and finally, started enjoying the pleasures of harmless heart palpitations. It took me a couple of weeks to trace the source of the problem, but, sure enough, the other company had changed their formula. So I'm back to Carlson to stay. You can get a great deal for this supplement through Amazon's Subscribe & Save service. I'd also recommend that you check out this book to learn more about the necessity and importance of magnesium supplementation for helping such diverse complaints as insomnia, muscle cramps, constipation, heart health, mood, energy, and much, much more: The Magnesium Factor . If you have a question about this supplement, please feel free to leave a comment & I'll be happy to help you, if I can!

Taste not to bad
Taste is not to bad. I was concerned that it wouldn’t taste quite right…but it’s fine…no aftertaste. I just noticed on the label that it seems to have a lot of fake sugar in it. And less than 1gram of real sugar. So if that’s a concern; I’d avoid. Otherwise; it seems 👍 ok

Disgusting
These are big chewables, probably not suitable for young children. The listing here shows it to have iron bisglycinate, but according to Carlson that was changed to iron citrate in 2011. I received iron citrate. My kid ate one and refuses to have it again ("It's too spicy."). I tried crushing one up with orange and apple juice. She took one sip and knew it had the iron in it "(I don't want it, its too spicy.") . I tried I tried one myself. It was horrendous. I almost vomited from the taste. Bloody tasting with hints of fish. The grape flavor and sugar do not help. I suspect all iron chewables will taste similarly bad. Pros: -Very cheap -definitely has iron in it Cons: -tastes disgusting -not easy to crush. I was unable to crush it with a spoon in a bowl. I went at it for a full minute with a hand blender before the bits completely broke up. I think capsules can avoid or minimize the terrible taste, but I'm not confident that my 2yr old will understand what to do with the capsule and won't choke on it. Next I plan to try some formulation of iron polysaccharide complex, which supposedly does not taste disgusting. I found two pediatric over-the-counter products containing this: Novaferrum pediatric drops and Yasoo IronUp. Both are available on Amazon. I'll try IronUp first, b/c it is more concentrated, $5 cheaper and has 1 good review. I will review it as well once I receive it.
