Q: How does this rate in electricity use compared to say a 500w steamer. Being a higher wattage, does it cook food faster?

It's fantastic. Cooks all the veg in less that 15 mins.

Q: What’s the difference between this model and the vc1450?

I am not sure about the vc 1450 model but i can guarantee you that this model is very good size for a family of 4

Q: Is it more difficult not being able to see the food while it is cooking?

Never bothered me. I open the lid and check if I wanna see it’s done or not.

Q: Just bought one of these but lid does not fit for storage, should this be the case?

just have to balance on top or at the side still a good product all the best .

Steamer needs an adapter plug. Steams food well. Easier to make some steam foods than a manual steamer.

you need a adapter as only 2 pin plug

it needed. plug adapter as it only has a 2 pin plug but not a problem that’s the only reason 4 stars it’s a nice looking steamer good size so good for two or four people as it was from abroad it took longer to arrive but was £25 cheaper but only used twice so far but liking it .
