Don't believe the hate it's a great fighting pad.
let me very honest, when I first bought it the d-pad was an issue. The left quarter circle movement was almost non existent and I drop combos like third grader running around with two bags of groceries. It was really a horrible experience. However, by simple getting contact with mad catz I had it replaced with a new pad that made my hori fight pad absolutely jealous. I was pulling off combos with ease and realized that this is what the quality should have been in the first place. I figured that there was a manufacturing defect in the initial shipments and mad catz was more than willing to replace them for free (with proof of purchase). I get why this has been getting really low reviews and we really shouldn't have to contact mad catz to fix the problem, but honestly mad catz replaced it in a week and I'm good to go. Mad catz is more than willing to help to fix the problem. It is a great fight pad and is now my go to fight pad for all fighting games. Yes you can mod these but it may not be worth it since you still have a manufacturers warranty.

Great Controller with a Few Caveats...
I tried many different controllers for Guilty Gear Strive, as I was tired of my standard Xbox One X controller's d-pad. I tried a Victrix Pro, a Hori fighting Commander, and an Xbox 360 controller, but all weren't to my liking. I bought this one and was very pleasantly surprised at how nice it felt for the price! The D-Pad feels very nice and does not require an ungodly amount of pressure. The buttons feel nice as well. However, the D-Pad has a tendency to be slightly inaccurate when inputting things, and there is an EXTREMELY bright light on the front of the controller that, as far I know, you can't turn off. Other than these things, I enjoy this controller and recommend it.

the controller feels great in my hand
Ordered in Mid February. The D Pad is not effective with the combos and moves, so I have to use the Analog Stick. After two and half months of moderate play the rubber ring around the top of the Left Analog Stick is peeling off. My O Button sticks constantly, you have to press the button twice as hard to have the button pop loose. Sometimes during the heat of an online match my thumb will slip off of the x button and slide down and hit the options button, which is my fault, but I wish the options button was on top of the stick. On the plus side, the controller feels great in my hand. Has an above average length controller cord, and the Analog Stick feels great (at least unitl the rubber started peeling off).

Get the Hori FC4 Instead
I've been playing Street Fighter since SF2 in 1991. I preordered this before there were reviews on it. I had both versions of SF4 fight pads by Mad Catz and really liked them so I figured this would be a no brainer. Sadly like many other reviews have said it's not very good. That isn't to say it doesn't have any good points. But overall I can't recommend it. Pros and cons are below.Pros:It looks great and feels good in my hands. It has the touchpad for PS4.You can use it on PS3 too.The analog stick is a nice touch although not needed.Buttons are responsive.Cons:The d-pad is terrible. It's sticky and many moves and jumps don't register. I'll go to jump forward toward my opponent but my character will jump straight up instead. Not sure what Mad Catz was thinking when making this d-pad. Maybe the current trouble there lead to this product not getting enough attention. The d-pad is also too close to the analog stick. I hit analog stick by accident a few times. You can switch to the right analog stick but I still found the stick in the way overall. You can also use the analog stick to fight if it suits you. But I think most people used to playing with fight pads prefer the d-pad.The R1 and L1 shoulders are long and narrow in the horizonal. I find them harder to press. The R2 and L2 shoulders are triggers so they're easier to press but them being triggers forced the other shoulder buttons to be long and narrow. The front buttons layout isn't the best compared to the Hori FC4. But they do feel good to press. Why is it $60?! There's no audio jack for wired headsets, no turbo function (if you prefer using it) and no other major features that justify the price. The Hori FC4 is $30 cheaper, is also wired, has turbo, a better d-pad, and superior button layout.Overall this fight pad has promise but falls way short mostly because of the overly sticky d-pad and less than ideal button layout. I've been playing fighting games for years and using fight pads for almost as long. I can't recommend this one. The best fight pad for PS4 at present is the Hori FC4. It's cheaper too. Hopefully Mad Catz will do something to at least address the d-pad in a future version.Update 2/23:After more testing with this in SFV training mode I still can't recommend it. Back in the day I used to have to "break-in" fight pads. That's less relevant today with these kind of controllers but I thought I'd try it still. But even after extensive motions on the d-pad it's still unresponsive and sticky. Hopefully they can revise it because at present this pad isn't worth the money. As much as I'd like to keep this, especially since it looks so cool I'm returning it for a refund.Hopefully Mad Catz will see this review and address the following problems. If they do I'd give it another try.1. Fix the d-pad. Go back to the previous generation d-pads. Those were great because they worked well unlike this one and were a little bigger. I'd also get rid of the analog stick. It's an interesting touch but it's too close to the d-pad and pad players generally don't use the analog stick.2. Get rid of the touchpad. It's really not needed on this pad. I'd replace it with a headset audio jack. This would give this pad a clear one up over the Hori FC4 and other fight pads lacking audio jacks.3. Fix the button layout and design. The 6 face buttons aren't responsive enough and they arc to high up toward the top of the pad near the right shoulder buttons. I have large hands and often pressed shoulder buttons along with the triangle, circle, R1 & R2. There's enough room on the front the lower them a centimeter or so (more like the Hori).4. Change the shoulder buttons back to regular buttons and make L2 and R2 shoulders flat but a little bigger/wider than the L1/R1 shoulders. They don't need to be triggers which is really only great for shooters.5. Why is it $60?! There's no reason for this price point considering it doesn't have any "useful" features other pads lack. Again no one needs the touchpad and the analog stick doesn't help much.

Only lasted a month or so
The D-pad felt great, the controllers' body itself felt very awkward though. Buttons were great, but the triggers were very awkward and made some inputs unnecessarily difficult. The D-pad gave out after about a month, and inputs on the left side no longer register. Would not recommend. My cheaper Hori fightpad has lasted a few years now.

WORST FIGHTPAD ON THE MARKET
The buttons and Dpad are just terrible quality, very unresponsive controller which is odd due to the fact the controller is made for a game that's very input orientated. Its very unusable for its purpose I recommend looking elsewhere for a fightpad.

A bit disapointed but its an ok controller
The controler is alright. I would have thought that the circle pad would aid me performing overdrives in guilty gear but it has not. The joystick is still the best option for this. For a reason the O button on my controler gets stick down from time to time. I guess its a ok controler, i have tested worst than this.
