Q: These beans are very oily. I read oily beans will ruin coffee grinders. Worried, just bought a new grinder. Is this true?

Some lower quality burr grinders may be damaged by oils but it would also be a result of not cleaning the burrs consistently or properly. Any freshly roasted dark coffee will have oil. A good grinder that is properly maintained shouldn’t have issues

Oily beans happen from 1 of 2 things: 1) longer roast times (darker roasts) 2) time in storage. This producer states that the beans are slow-roasted. That is one way to reduce acidity. Which is exactly what is wanted here. The oilyness is a byproduct of a slow roast designed to reduce acidity.

Q: is this a vanilla flavored coffee or just dark roast?

This is a true dark roast that does not have any vanilla flavor added, it is a very smooth and flavorful coffee which does not have any better taste at all, I find it quite delicious
