Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant, All Purpose Beauty Salve, Moisturizing Balm for Body, Gift for Women

I am a great fan of this product. It has a proprietary mix of Lionel and mineral oils. It’s good for my cracked fingers. As a barber, washing my hands all day. I also use it as a face cream at night. As my eye cream. And to heal cracked heels on my feet. It has a little smell like ginger and lanolin. So don’t expect it to smell like flowers. The smell doesn’t stay with you. I believe Princess Diana used this product as her night cream. And nothing else. It is by Elizabeth Arden, and they still to this day make very quality products. I am a cosmetologist and read the ingredients in products. I did a little homework on this one. And it works! It is a lifesaver.

A little background, I have been suffering from dry skin all year long. Nothing had worked. I even tried putting jojoba oil but it left it a little too oily and then it didn't really worked to moisturize my face. So I came across this and it's has been the best face moisturizer. The thickness is like petroleum jelly so it's perfect. I squeeze a tiny bit, I rub it on my fingers and then that covers my entire face. Once you rub it, it's less thick but once you apply it, it feels so good. It's hard to describe the scent, it's slightly there but not too noticeable. It definitely does its job, I don't have those dry patches anymore (those dry patches are noticeable when wearing makeup, on my forehead). I highly recommend it, it is a bit pricey but if it's going to solve a problem like dryness, I say get it. It's worth investing on it because you know it will work.

Always loved this ointment. The smell brings me back. Great for lips, or help healing spots and scratches. It’s a great barrier cream that I’m never without.

I bought this after Prince Harry had mentioned it as the lip product his mom Princess Diana used to prevent windburn and chapped lips in the cold weather. I don't ski but it gets very cold and windy in Wisconsin and I'm always on the lookout for a product to prevent chapped lips and windsurf. You do get a generous sized tube of this product and it is an ointment consistency. It does help keep my lips from drying out in the cold and the harsh dryness of Winter heated homes. I found it to have a strange smell and to be honest it is really overpriced Vaseline with a few other ingredients thrown in. I don't think it works any better than a dollar priced Vaseline. I will continue to use it till it's gone but won't be repurchasing in the future.

Guys - do not be alienated by the brand name Elizabeth Arden. This is not a girly product. It does not smell good at all. About like motor oil. And looks like baby poop. But, it will heal ANY skin cut, abrasion, scratch, help scars go away and will make your lips completely soft overnight.I have been using this product for 11 years back before Amazon sold such things. I had to go to Macy's women's cosmetics and perfume department to the Elizabeth Arden counter. Every time I walked up to the counter the white smocked girl always comes over to me and says "you want eight hour creme, right?" How did she know?This is not a pretty smelling women's product. It heals any skin problem. I have cats and when I get scratched from playing with my cats, after washing the scratch I put on the 8 hour creme and the next morning it is almost healed. It truly is a miracle formula. I have even used it on my cat's ear when he got into a fight and it healed him. I think he liked the taste more than I.Anyway, men have been using this product for decades in secret. Now that you can get it from Amazon you no longer have to buy it in secret. And it is a few dollars cheaper here too.A tube usually lasts me 5 years. It is the only thing you need for your skin.Elizabeth Arden - you RULE!!!

My sister read an article where a celebrity mentioned this product as her ‘secret to looking ageless’. Being ‘of an age’ we jumped on it as soon as we could open up our Amazon apps.As luck would have it, mine was delivered first. Squealing, I texted her a quick picture and ran to wash my face so I could try it out. I excitedly opened the box - I couldn’t wait; I’m gonna be ageless!When I opened the tube, I sniffed the contents - a decidedly medicinal smell, but that’s ok! I’ll get used to that, I thought. I squeezed the tube and a thick, formed, pinkish glob? came out onto my palm. I don’t know what I expected, but this wasn’t it. So, I tentatively tapped the tip of my finger onto the top of the glob and it depressed somewhat, but didn’t budge - it didn’t coat my fingertip like I’d expect a moisturizer to do. So I tried again, but with a scooping motion. The entire glob came up in one piece on the end of my finger. My initial thoughts were that maybe once I put it on my face, it would become more liquid and spread easier. (It did not.)As soon I made the first pass at rubbing it in, I thought - um, this feels exactly like Vaseline! What the heck? Still hopeful though, I continued to apply the goop to my face.Once I finished, I stood looking at myself in the mirror. Yep. I looked exactly like someone who’d just applied Vaseline all over their face. Greasy, shiny - my glasses wouldn’t even stay put on my nose, they slid down every time I’d lean forward.The feeling of the product on my skin was decidedly unpleasant; thick, sticky, almost a suffocating sensation, like my skin couldn’t breathe.Feeling a little stumped, I thought this can’t be right, it feels exactly like Vaseline - not a semi-expensive moisturizer by an iconic company like EA? So I read the ingredients: “petrolatum 56.8%”I couldn’t believe it. I’d paid almost $30 bucks for a tube of pink smelly Vaseline.Granted, nowhere on the tube does it say it’s a moisturizer, the tube clearly states “Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant”So, lesson learned - I’ll make sure to read the reviews before I try the next miracle ageless cure.I doubt I’ll use it on my face, because I can’t get past the sticky, heavy and greasy feeling - but it’ll work for a nice cuticle cream, I guess.
