A fine version of a fine story
I'm a bit a fan of Tarkovsky's films and love his (original) version of Solaris. I've also read the Stanislaw Lem novel it was based on and have watched the more recent Steven Soderbergh film remake. This version is different - more true to the novel than either of the films I think - and is thoroughly engaging. Highly recommended.

An original idea
Kelvin lands on a mysterious planet after leaving the Prometheus, he’s met with a shocking situation where he learns the person he needs to see has died in an accident. He soon discovers the whole space station is in dire straits and the inhabitants are in need of help.Solaris is a planet with two suns, which means it’s orbit is unstable and therefore life struggles to survive in its ever changing atmosphere. After much research they discover that Solaris does indeed have life, one massive inhabitant - the ocean which covers most of the planet. After a while on Solaris, he sees his ex girlfriend, at first he thinks he’s dreaming but it turns out she’s been dead for years after committing suicide. The ocean has a way to regenerate people from your past using your memories. As the men at the space station start to go mad from seeing things from their past they decide to try and come up with ways to stop it.This book was such a cool and original idea but it has an awful lot of waffle, and quite a lot of information that doesn’t seem relevant to the story line, enjoyable but sometimes too detailed in places. A really cool concept though!
