The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company: A Photographic History, 1898-1951 (Ohio History and Culture)

This is a beautiful collection of historical photographs of the Goodyear company which has been such a large part of our lives in Northeastern Ohio especially. Growing up around the corner from the Wingfoot hangar and being a part of Goodyear sponsored events/groups (Boy Scouts, Explorers, etc), it has always intrigued me about the history of this company. This book provides so much information about its evolution as well as the various paths and products along the way. It is beautifully laid out and masterfully written. Definitely recommend!

I found many photos that I hadn't seen before in other books about blimps, especially Goodyear ones. Gives much information about other rubber industry events.

No, you won't see "Verified Purchase" here, because my wife bought me the book through Amazon as a Christmas present. This is an excellent coffee table book that presents the history of Goodyear up to the start of the 1950s, all made possible--no, necessary--because of the dangerous kind of photographic negatives that were used in quite a lot of industrial photography in the first half of the 20th century. The text at the start of each chapter provides a nice concise overview of that particular aspect of the work and products of Goodyear, with the photo captions providing a little more detail. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in Goodyear and industry in Akron and Northeastern Ohio.
