First and foremost, I would like to thank bulksupplements.com from the bottom of my heart! This product has honestly changed my entire outlook on life... More on that in a minute. I was offered free product to write an unbiased review within two weeks, and I wanted to give myself the full two weeks to really let it sink in all that it has truly helped me with. Here goes! Finding myself in a very low rut, I was having difficulties just getting up out of bed without feeling like I just should give up today and go back to sleep. Finally, I had conceded to the fact that, even after multiple failed attempts at exercising and eating well, I wasn't feeling any better and I needed to start taking something. I still attach a deep stigma to prescription drugs (only for me, if they work or you, please continue to do what helps you most!), so I wanted to start with herbal supplements. I did a little research and found on multiple sites that the product offered by bulksupplements.com was of superior quality. I placed my order and received the 100g St John's Wort within only a few days. At first, the taste was too bitter to take alone and I usually needed to chase it with orange juice. (Now I don't mind... Even like it!) I feel the product took a good 4 days to take hold in my system... And how do I know it was working, you ask? The best example I can give is a scene from the movie, Limitless. When Bradley Cooper's character first initially takes the pill, his blue-gray world switches to a bright yellow surrounding; the colors of the cars and buildings are brighter and more vibrant and you can see in his eyes that his fog had lifted. It just "clicks" in his mind and his depressive-like state is over! Now I wish, oh how I wish, this product gave me super-human cognitive abilities (wouldn't that be awesome?), but it did the next best thing... It helped my own self be confident and self-assured in my own goals. Before, couldn't will myself to workout... Now, I can't stop myself! I have increased energy, better focus, and most of all, better self-esteem... Something I have been lacking for a very, very long time. I don't feel like I need to wait for the ball to drop. I have had a few bad moments in the last week, but I was able to let them roll of my back rather than pull back into that deep rut. I never, ever want this feeling to end! As others have stated, the SJW powder taste is bad, but not unbearable (taste like what I would imagine bitter root, bark, mushroom compost and a little dirt all mixed together to taste like). I have tried mixing it with water, hot tea and protein shakes. For me, that only makes the whole drink taste bad and I have had trouble with the powder sticking to the sides of the glass which leaves me trying to wipe it off with my finger or a spatula. I prefer to have my drink “Chaser” at hand, dump the powder is my mouth and follow quickly with drink. I have done this with water, cold tea, protein shakes and coffee. After doing this a few times I have found it tolerable, especially considering the great benefits of SJW. Sometimes I follow the drink with a mint, which helps the taste dissipate faster. You could certainly put the powder in capsules as others have pointed out. For me, too much trouble and unnecessary expense, after all that’s why I bought in bulk. If you compare the kilogram bulk price to buying pre packaged bottles with capsules, the bulk supplement price is quite compelling. I also agree that including a “right size” scoop would be nice. The instructions say to take 3/8 teaspoon rounded. What I do is take a ½ teaspoon not quite full (after measuring out 3 - 1/8 teaspoons for a reference). I took SJW for about a year and half and then quit because I thought it was no longer necessary. What I found is that not much time passed before I battled more with mood swings and depression and began taking SJW again (along with MACA Powder). I take this bulk SJW supplement 3 times per day (3/8 tsp each dose) and find the lift in mood, improved outlook on life, and greatly reduced feelings of depression to easily make the taste a non-issue. **Update 7/7/15** I came back to buy another bag one year later and found the price to be almost doubled. Still a better deal than bottles. I decided to try another brand by PureBulk.com. The price was about ten dollars cheaper per kilo. The PureBulk SJW definitely taste better. It taste more like an herb to me. However, I put my doses (3/day) in a 7-day weekly pill box on Sunday for easy daily use during the week. The Pure bulk product is hard by Wednesday causing me to have to chew it up, and this is a deal breaker. The Bulk Supplements Amazon product is packaged better, in a foil pouch, compared to a plastic pouch (PureBulk) that doesn't reseal well and the Bulk Supplements Amazon product doesn't get hard in the pill boxes in a week. Bottom line, I will return to the Bulk Supplements Amazon product for the next purchase.

Works good, priced right! Yes, the flavor is a bit off-putting, but it mixes well with coffee/hot chocolate, and isn't too bad with tea. I would prefer capsules but this is much cheaper. A kilogram is A LOT. You might want to go smaller if you think you won't like it. It's enough to last months! The only problem I have is that it's powdered. I'm sure it's all the highest quality and JUST the active parts of the plant, but I really don't like having to take their word for it. Without proper equipment, you can't tell what parts of the plant are actually in it. Could there be roots in it? Stems? Sticks? Dirt? Putting my paranoia aside, this product does seem to work! My mood has been steadily elevating, almost to where I feel *normal* I recommend and will purchase again.

Whenever I take this, gradually within an hour or two I can feel my mood lightening up. It's this gradual shift rising up. I don't take this everyday mainly because of the side effects I encounter that are bothersome to me. It seems to reduce my sex drive a bit, not by a great deal, but enough that it's noticeable. This stuff also gives me vivid dreams, which I don't care for because those dreams are almost bordering on the uncomfortable or unpleasant side. When I'm not on this, then I'm rarely dreaming. If those two side effects weren't visible, then I'd likely take this everyday, because it works on every other level. I'm giving this 5 stars regardless of those side effects, because those side effects are some of the ones listed with any St. John's Wort supplement. It's really a matter of do you want to be an unmotivated down trodden mood, but have a great sex life and pleasant dreams? Or do you want to be super happy high on life, but have no sexual interest and endure nightmares in your dreams. It's a tough call I have to say. This was my experience, but yours may be different. Also, I've read other negative side effects that start to happen with regular use of St. John's Wort. I don't how accurate that is, but it seems no matter what we're taking it's going to eventually cause damage according to some. Regardless of all that, on the positive side, this St. John's Wort is one of the better ones I've tried. I found the most effective to be when I take just a small amount at 1/8 in the morning just before breakfast. I take it earlier enough in the day that I feel the side effects will lesson by nighttime when it's worn off a bit. I could take more, but that will also increase the side effects.

I believe it is good St. Jonhs Wort as described. Taking the powder took some practice but I can do it just fine now. I took off one star because of what I found I believe is a dosage problem on the package. It says and I believe it is 3% however while almost all the sources I have found say 300mg 3 times a day the package label says 600mg 1 to 3 times a day. I used the 600mg 3 times a day like the package said thinking the produce must be diluted however I have decided I am getting too much because of side effects and am reducing the dosage.

This is my second purchase of this product and the texture is wildly different. Its consistency is more like cocoa powder which makes it substantially more difficult to take by measuring spoon. I sometimes choke on it.

Great price on a LARGE amount of bulk product. Package doesn't say it's "standardized", so no guarantee on potency of active compounds. (St johns wort must be harvested at very specific time for maximum benefit) Hard to tell how strong it is, or how well it works (just received it), but it seems quite strong. Also, the package says it was harvested over 2 years ago, putting its expiration date BEFORE I'm able to finish product. Comes in an air-tight and light-blocking Ziploc type bag, but no measuring scoop. Easy to figure proper dosage though, as it has conversion of 1/4tsp=375mg, etc. I will take 3 of those daily, making this last over 2 years. For continued potency, I recommend squeezing out excess air when re-sealing, and keeping it in cold place. I deal with anxiety and depression, and having used St Johns Wort pills for years, I can tell you it is far better than anything "prescribed". In Germany and other countries, this is the first "medicine" doctors turn to (because it works!). Not in Big Pharma America (partially for the same reason, and $$!) Updated after months of use... I am now more impressed with the product than initially- upped to 5 stars! Very effective in raising dopamine and serotonin levels at my dose. Compared to more expensive pill-form, my moods are much better, my energy drastically improved, attention and focus is better, my debilitating Fibromyalgia is better, sleep is improved. And at the fairly high dose (previously mentioned) the bag seems endless. My only noticeable side-effect seems to be a slightly looser stool (not necessarily bad). Purchase it, and give it a few days for it to take full effect. But if you miss a dose, you may notice it. I am NOT compensated for writing this review. Just a knowledgeable and happy customer. No preservatives, no fillers, and the best price for top quality product you'll find anywhere. I've been taking about 3 grams/day for 4 days now, for the first time in years I woke up feeling no fatigue and in a good mood, as if the black cloud that is always looming over my head had dissipated. Wish I'd have tried this long ago. I've suffered from depression pretty much all my life and these past few years I've had an almost crippling fatigue that is making life nearly unbearable.
