General Electric WR9X330DS Defrost Timer : desertcart.in: Home Improvement Review: Perfect Review: Our second fridge, which belonged to my wife's grandmother who passed away in 1981, stopped cooling last week. It took me a while to locate the defrost timer because it was buried in foam and fiberglass insulation under a panel behind the coils. The reason for the failure was obvious. The switch contacts were badly burnt. I ordered a replacement timer, not expecting much, but the part that arrived is virtually identical to the original timer, right down to the terminal numbering. After I installed the new timer, the fridge worked perfectly and inspired me to spend 4 hours cleaning the inside of the fridge, which was encrusted with 50 years of food residue. My wife is delighted that her grandmother's fridge is back in operation and I am relieved that I don't have to shell out $1000 plus for a new fridge. A word of warning, when you pull a fridge out to clean the coils, check the receptacle it is plugged into carefully. If it is directly behind the fridge, the humidity from the evaporation pan can cause it to corrode. We almost had a fire a few years ago because of this.
