When All Is Not Well: Depression and Sadness - A Yogic Perspective Review: Tired of Anti-depressants or if you think – “Depression, It’s not for me.” . Read on.. - PLEASE PICK THIS BOOK and give it a read, Why? You would not just be doing good Know for yourself but to this world. This book of just over a hundred pages, has a lot of insight and food for thought, or facts for thought, if I must say. Before, I read this book, my understanding of Depression was someone who has locked them in a room and behaves insanely. Little had I known that I myself was suffering from it not for a short while but for year’s . It was an eye- opener for me and gave an understanding of what was wrong with me and sometimes people around and how to make sense of mood swings and other behavioral patterns which we don’t know where they spring from. The language is simple and it flows well. Let me warn you, it is a depressing book to start off, and it actually made me feel depressed and sad during the real-life case stories. But we are talking about Depression anyway. But as you read through you will realise, that there is nothing to worry about. It’s just a disease and the best part, it can be cured. Although, some technical bits were a little hard to grasp initially but this is not a light read fiction anyway. This is years and years of experience and knowledge poured out for the world. The ones who are in search of it, will definitely feel like, they have come across the translated version of an age old scripture infused with practical and natural treatments and an insightful revelation of western medicine particularly anti-depressants. I am amazed at the knowledge and information this book has to offer. It makes us look at our emotions, not as aversions but as mere neurotransmitters, a scientific element. Simplicity being the forte of the author, has come out in full glory or else, the complexity of what exists beneath the struggling darkness of our lives would remain un-comprehendible for people like me. I would love to send This book to all Psychiatrist, or Psychologists as the ones in the profession definitely need to know this. Else, they are playing with the lives of innocent people, prescribing anti-depressants, where they are not needed. The last chapter is so full of hope and happiness, it is like a satisfied customer in a restaurant who ate the right food and has the sweet flavor from the desert still in his mouth. Ohh and the short verses of humour and the comments in brackets, bring us back to life and fill the aura with laughter , making the atmosphere a little lighter. It is satisfying, fulfilling, intriguing, insightful, a source of treasure and much more. I hope this book reaches out to as many as possible. Review: Dealing in other Depression without Drugs - I read this book as I was going through mild depression following a major heart surgery. This book, on the other hand, deals with cases of serious depression. The author knows how to write. It is very well-written and easy to read. The author, who is an enlightened tantric monk, offers practical wisdom on how to deal with depression, without pharmaceutical interventions. Most people think that depression is all about sadness. Their misguided advice to a depressed person is to cheer up. The author characterizes depression as emptiness, pain, misery and nothingness all at once. Drawing on Vedic and Yogic texts, the author discusses how to deal with three types of depression. Although the book wasn't for me, I enjoyed reading it. Even if you are not suffering from depression, the book offers interesting tips on wholesome living through diet and exercise.

A Masterpiece! Do yourself a favor by reading it!
Yet another masterpiece by Om Swami. Extraordinary! Swami’s writing style is very clear, touching and addictive. I couldn’t put the book down until completion. His years of experience working with depressed people clearly shows through in his words. This is a must read for everyone (no matter who you are, whether you had depression or not). Having been a victim to this demon called Depression, I stand testimonial to Om Swami’s healing touch. His loving and empathic words worked magic on me. He made me feel wanted in what felt like a wicked world. This book moved me to tears because I could relate to each one of those stories. A deep sense of compassion touched me triggering a desire to spread awareness about depression. It’s a condition that you don’t want even your enemy to experience. This book, written from a Yogic perspective, has the potential to change, rather save lives. I’m planning to gift this book to everyone I know who needs help. Please do yourself and your loved ones a favor by reading this book.

Marvelous book, written with truly yogic and scientific perspective!
This book came along when a close relative was going through the horror of depression, and offered the much needed insight including the yogic and scientific perspective. Different viewpoints on traditional medicine and Ayurvedic and natural healing processes are depicted with genuine, first-hand experiences from Om Swami. Dealing with the emotional and psychological aspects of depression, and solving the root cause of the problem in such compassionate way is what makes this book a unique guide, not only for depression but many life challenges. Throughout this book, one gets the feel of deep wisdom and unconditional love, the eternal hallmark of Om Swami! Oh, and that reference to Andy (from Shawshank Redemption) was an unexpected delight. :)

Vedic and scientific approach to depression
Swami Ji has a way with words. His writing is so honest and heartfelt that you just want to trust him. But he does one better. The sound logic and wonderful anecdotes make his book compelling and difficult to ignore. Read this if you, or anyone you know, need help and want to give your life a new direction.

I wish more people have read this book. It provided excellent matter of fact information about mental health without being overtly technical. Very useful. Thank you.

Everyone, undoubtedly, has to face Depression at some point of time in their life. No exception to that. Rather stressing out about Depression or getting frustrated with it, it's 100 times wise to deal with it. But a million dollar question is how one can deal with it? Aid of antidepressants, medicines, even meditation and yoga gives a very little result or temporary feel good effect sometime, or doesn't give the exact same result in every case! The monster always comes back to give another nightmare!! Unless we understand this subject as a whole, we will fall short in dealing with it for sure. However, there is only so much to know. So what's the Solution? This book. Yes, this book will help you deal with the subject of Depression in a wholesome way. One need to know only this much knowledge that is presented in this book to deal, understand and solve the Depression from the root. When I read this book, I have finished it in one sitting, just couldn't put it a side. I realized I would never go up to this extent to nail down the subject of Depression. The author has presented not only the emotional, psychological and medical treatment aspects of Depression, but offered a unique blend of yogic perspective, Ayurveda knowledge, and complete understanding of complexities of life and relationships and imprints of the life events on our mind. That made this book a worth of my reading time. The book presents the understanding of Depression, the uniqueness of each cases and offers varieties of solution to deal with it. Yes this book covers the real life case studies from across the cultures to make it all inclusive. A very well thought out, very well scientifically researched, and above all impressively well written book presented with a genuine intention to help the victims! I am thankful to it's author for writing such a beautiful book! It helped a lot to understand many things. I highly recommend to buy and read this book to all who have suffered or are suffering or know someone who is suffering from Depression. It will be honestly helpful.

Excellent Book, it made a lot of sense. I'm going to start implementing these suggestions. The way the author explained made it easy to understand the point he was trying to make. Very helpful for looking at the illness of Depression in a different light and not just antidepressants. I wish it was just the one thing that would make you better, but it seems many things together eventually help to beat this illness. I certainly hope I can do this too one day.
