I was concerned because a previous review mentioned a smell, and yes, when first opened it had a noxious odor, but I unwrapped it and let it gas off and decompress for 48 hours on my front porch, and I washed the waterproof cover. It lofted up to very thick (over 3"!) and no odor at all. I replaced the waterproof cover and put it inside my previously owned cover. It is thick and comfortable (a little weight needed to compress it so would not recommend for lightweight pets), but my husky-shepherd loves it. He loves to swim (which is how he soaked and ruined the old stuffing) but this waterproof cover protects the deep memory foam and it dries right off! Provides good cushion to his elbows and knees. A great deal!

Could be thicker but has good support given the size. Comes in its own case so not just the foam liner - a nice plus.

Our dog bed had gotten peed on a few times during an overnight at the vet - I wasn’t able to save the insert and couldn’t find a replacement for the Serta bed we have. This fits perfectly and my dog is so happy his bed was saved. It is fairly firm but he seems to love it and I love the waterproof cover so we don’t have that same issue again. Did not notice any smell and it puffed up right away - I would say to measure if you are trying to fit a different bed, there is no getting this back in its package!

So I got this for our 15 year old pitbull who has nerve issues.She normally spends her days on our bed with one of those flat beds that have soothing fibers.We have a comfortable mattress on the bed but I felt that it wasn't quite soft enough for her so I got this because it says memory foam.It is very firm. Actually much firmer than the mattress on our bed which is also firm but softer.She used this for a total of 2 days then return to a portion of the bed where it was more comfortable.If this is in her spot she will continue to jump off the bed until I removed it.Perhaps for some dogs that sleep on the floor this is pure comfort but for a dog that likes our bed best this just doesn't work.Too much trouble to try and send back so I may just donate it to the local animal shelter.

I bought the mattress for my 16 year old dog and it’s perfect!

The foam took about a week to expand and for the smell to disappiate. It felt much harder than the old foam which was 6 years old. I put it in his old cover and the good news is He Loves It.Today when I got around to throwing the old one out I realized I could fold it in half (not good). Love the replacement and it was well worth the money spent in it.
