Is this an adult size?

Yes it is an adult size. I'm a size 14, I ordered an XL and had to take in a bit to fit better. The arm area was extra roomy.

I usually wear a Med or Large in things, does anyone have one that can suggest if it's really big or not. I am just really unsure of which size to get

I would go with a Large. I usually wear the same size as you and bought a Medium and felt like it was a really small medium couldn't even zip it.
