Works on cotton and linen too
It works on cotton and linen as well as silk. I hadn’t tried it before and have used the acrylic Pebeo paints on fabric which are perfect for paint washes for backgrounds on art quilts. Looking forward to trying other colors.

Decent product, but my bad...
Ok, the product itself does what it says...it is a lightening agent for the Pebeo Silk Paint. I bought it thinking it was something to thin the paint, not change the color. So this product is white (which I might have guessed by looking at the bottle, but I do have other items from the same company that come in opaque bottles) and it will lighten up (and thin) your paints. I am new to painting on silk (but not new to painting) and I was looking for a product that would allow me to make different saturations of the same color (like you would do in watercolor). This product actually changes the color of the paint (and it wasn't pretty with the browns or blues...wow! It worked well on the reds and yellows though....), which is not quite what I was looking for. So, not dissing the product or the paints, but if you want something to just dilute your paint with without changing the color this isn't quite the right product. Oh, and it did not affect the color fasting process at all, so that's a good thing.

Interesting. just tried it today on some sample fabric. Can see the possibilities of creating one of a kind fabrics. Played around with the intensity from watered down to direct color application. I think if you let yourself experiment with mixing the colors and strength you'll really enjoy working with this and the other options Pebeo offers.

All the Pebeo setasilk paints work well. They are lovely colours. My only complaint is the price for the amount in the bottle. It doesn't go as far as you might like for the price.

Two generations of artists I my family are using Pebeo. Unmatched. Over 20 years of working with it.

All the setasilk dyes/paints work well on silk. They can be set in an oven set to 300F for about 20-40 minutes, depending on the thickness of the silk. Ironing is another option, but you are more likely to damage the silk that way. Be sure to let them air dry for 24 hours before setting. Some colours will set darker than others, but in general, these work well compared to some of the other dyes I have tried.
