Your Country, My Country: A Unified History of the United States and Canada

I am 2/3s thru the book and it has not disappointed. It is historically definitive and comes back again and again to the underlying conceptions and misconceptions that have characterized the relations between the two countries. It is a book worthy of the title and subject and what drew me to buy the book in the first place. As a citizen of both countries I have observed over half a century of the complex themes that professor Bothwell points out and I think he has it just about right.

I learned a lot about a segment of history most Americans have little sense of. This well-written text explores the co-existence of the U.S. and its near northern neighbor over the past 250+ years. Having traveled extensively in Canada I desired a better sense of how our two similar but distinctive cultures and political institutions had evolved. I was not disappointed.

Quite informative and detailed. At times seemed a bit more oriented towards Canada than America though but great allthesame. Learned quite a bit from this that wasn't taught to us in American schools.

Well done and a better book than Conrad's History of Canada.Take note that Conrad's book was also very good.Hubert Marleau

There are many, many examples provided throughout the book of the countries customs, backgrounds, and religions. Beginning at the settlement of the colonies in the New World and proceeding to modern times this is detailed history. If you are a history buff you will enjoy reading this; if you were hoping for an brief, anecdotal history of the likes and differences between the USA and Canada explaining the causative factors you be overwhelmed.

Excellent concept and execution. This is a very valuable contribution to the study of both Canada and the United States.

I learned a lot but it was pretty dry.
