DAX Patterns: Second Edition

So far after reading the sample intro, the Authors have made it very clear... this book is a reference...REFERENCE and that yes they acknowledged the fact the book is online for free tutorials...and the book is still a good reference... I AGREE.. also to include this BOOK DOES NOT TEACH DAX... so that being said, lets look at DAX books that will teach you and get you up to speed, then come back as as reference to this book when you need extra help then go to the Web Site and TAKE ADVANTAGE of the material. as the author has mentioned that there are VIDEOS with instructions to the patterns with further explanation, myself i am a visual kinda guy, if i need to see it in action then show me the money....I enjoyed reading the intro so much that i began to think with the truthfulness i was pleased to have purchased the ebook and will be looking forward to the education...I had recently signed up and will cancel now the BOOT CAMP through a University, on Data Management, and after looking over the curriculum, i have decided that the information they are teaching at a whooping 13,000 dollars, is OUTDATED, and found out that VBA will no longer be supported as MICRSOFT has decided to to take away the feature... be CAREFUL when you see TecH... we can all asume the updates are coming... So with further training with this REFERNCE and many others... i will be saving thousands and will be glad to say THANK YOU TO THE PROFESSIONAL Authors/ Instructors (Teachers) who have made this possible. I have yet to read fully, but after reading the first chapter I am absolutely happy with my decision... and let it be known i NORMALLY do not write reviews

SQLBI is among the Mt Rushmore of must have Power BI resources and with their 2nd edition of DAX Patterns they invite us all back for another round of templatized and easy to use patterns. I'm working my way slowly as all things DAX should be consumed with time and experience and I greatly appreciate the level of detail they continue to provide in their materials. Once again, thank you for an incredible addition to the collection.

This book is a must have for any Power BI professional. Upon opening the book I found a solution to a project requirement that I have coming up and I can't wait to test it out! Thank you Alberto and Marco for another quality book!!!

I am a HUGE fan of the authors and I would highly recommend the patterns used in the book but I was greatly disappointed to see that most of this book was online for free. I started building the basket analysis portion from what I found on the web and I figured the book would expand upon this pattern... that was not the case. The pattern was exactly what was online for free and no more.Again, these patterns are awesome and extremely helpful, I just wish that buying the book they would have gone into greater detail and also maybe use a few different examples for each pattern.I would still highly recommend this book and basically anything these authors write... especially if you are a BI professional and use DAX or PowerQuery M on a daily basis but please be aware that if you are trying to build upon what they have online for free, this hook won’t necessarily help with that.

Seriously this is the best book I’ve found on Dax. Buy it.

A very practical book with many real world examples and accompanying downloadable files. It’s explained in great detail and they anticipate the problems you’ll experience with DAX.
