It does what it says
I dont regret buying this watch. It has been great and accurate so far. I have used the MOVE app on android and ios and its simple and easy to get along. The design is good fits equally well for casual and formal occasions. I will recommend this.

Good but not perfect…
I’m sure there is a “basic” 5600 style solar MIP g-shock coming. This one is so close. The bad: 1. App (move) is awful wish it would work with the other app for just basic functions. Doesn’t seem to sync time automatically. 2. There are a number of annoying functions some you can turn off and others you can’t and occasionally you get a dialog box which takes a couple of seconds to action. 3. Battery which I think last 2 years 4. Light is okay and works but dislike the uneven spread of light and prefer the old EL style. 5. Dislike the metal surround - trying to find a “night” version replacement of this watch. 6. Some of the display parts are pretty small very difficult to easily see steps for the day for example. The good: 1. MIP display is very good in all light - would love to see one where you can flip negative to positive. 2. The tide part of the app is much easier way to pick area you want and not having to reference elsewhere to update phone. 3. Great to have moon data and it is really nice how you can flip between the different display options (6 in total). 4. Buttons are really nice and sand proof so very nearly a mud resist design I would say. 5. Strap is super bendy and super confortable even though plastic buckle. Do not regret buying this for the MIP display.

Best Casio Digital display - none better!
Update 14/10/2023 - I'm a VINE VOICE now but this review was initiated before I became one . I purchased the watch because I wanted it and paid for it myself - I strive always to give an honest and balanced review. I bought this GShock for 3 main reasons 1. The excellent display. Can see this in most light conditions, much more than other LCD displays 2. It's a good looking , very nicely designed functional Casio GShock 3. the Tide graph ,Moon state , Sunrise /Sunset info displays I don't much care for the activity tracker functions. Well I don't use them at the moment. For some specific people I'm sure they are just fine and dandy. I object to the Casio G Move Phone app collecting data about me in any case so I've disabled this feature. The watch is packed with functionality. This is good. It's a G Shock so the expectation is it will be tough as the proverbial old boot! The MIP display type is brilliant. It's easy to read in bright sunlight and lower light conditions. The backlight feature is good and I can see all the screen in the dark. You can also set it up from the watch to Auto Light when you move your arm.. this is great! The band is a soft rubber material and is quite comfortable to wear. Some minor Negatives 1. NO Hour SIG (hour SIGnal Beep) can be set up.. very minor criticism ! 2. Watch strap seems to attract dust - more so than other watch straps? However easy to clean it with mild detergent ,a soft toothbrush and some warm water though! 3. Difficulty pairing with the new Casio Watches App. Sometimes it pairs straight off other times you have to repeat the Pairing sequence multiple times! 4. Light goes off if you touch any buttons! a bit annoying at night if you are trying to set up a particular function..need a torch! I spend a lot of time on the beach so I wanted an accurate Tide Graph watch. This watch doesn't dissapoint on this score. You can set it up using the G Move App to a specific monitoring point and then sync the app with the phone periodically. It's accurate to the minute. You can elect to manually set the next high tide also. This is not as accurate though. I wanted this Tide feature and it works fine for me. The tide graph has two screens. one a short data set and the other a longer data set. you can set up multiple locations ( 4 in total I believe ) The Moon state and sunrise/ sunset times is set by entering the Longditude/Latitude . This is accurate within minutes and I've checked the moon state watch data against other data and it's accurate. The watch is typical Casio quality. The plastic case and watch strap are what you would expect. The strap probably won't last forever but you can replace it and or exchange it for a fabric NATO one with some adaptation I believe. For me in summary it's got what I wanted and a whole lot of other features I can pick and choose from. I'd Recommend this watch for people who like beach activities, surfers, beach combers, walkers, water sports enthusiasts, night walkers It's a smart watch of sorts. Not an Apple Watch , but it will do notifications for calls, texts etc if Bluetooth paired with your phone. It compares very favourably to my Casio Mud Master.. The Mudmaster strap is a little stiff as it's plastic and inflexible compared to the G-LIDE strap!

Casio tide watch
Great watch, lots of features - however other than the displayed time the information on the display is very small. To read it I have to put reading glasses on so it spoils it for me. I wish I wasn't so blind! Can't imagine it affecting young eyes!

Negative display watch that is actually clear to read!
I hate negative display watches for the reason being they're hard to read...except this watch which is not a digital display but a pixel display so its as crystal clear as the positive display watches. I gave it 4 stars for this reason....no signal alarm which is crazy to me as this is just the standard and the stopwatch has no 100th of a sec, other than that a really cool watch.

Casio G-Shock GBX-100 Initial review
So, this is my first G-Shock, bought since I wanted a tide prediction watch for some local sailing activities; which of course also need waterproof capabilities and a (sailing) race countdown timer. I also needed to be able to read the watch in sunlight and have a dual time display so that (from a VHF radio perspective) have UTC displayed alongside my local time. All my boxes then (almost) ticked with the GBX-100. Most impressive (for me) was that (1) the MIPS display is just wonderful the best ‘LCD’ display I have ever seen. (2) The tide data is terrific (when you set by the Casio Move app – which also sets the time etc) – I am in North Wales and the app has tide data for all my local ports… some more accurate than others so I chose the location that was actually most accurate given the Met Office tables (just one locale out), so I am now about 4 mins away from the local tide times…. Oh, so pleased since I did not have to fiddle & guess the longitude & meridian offset. (3) The countdown timer is programable in 5 separate sets, so for a sailing race start can be programmed rather well with a bit of a fiddle, the bottom line though is that it works (despite not being designed for this purpose). (4) A second time zone can be displayed at the same time as the local time zone (and large enough so it can be easily read) – for me with an importance of UTC as well as my local time zone (coastguard radio users will get this since the coastguard in the UK only does UTC), this function is such a step up and so valuable. (5) Ok, so I have invented a fifth positive element – the notion that Casio can, with this watch and app, make updates to the software – a game changer in terms of Casio watches of the past. Casio updated (2020) some of the tide data points and I hope will also avail European users of changing the date format – you know what I mean – just like they did for the 5610u (u is the update). A smaller change (which took me some time to fathom – forgive the seafaring pun) is that the tide data gives a scale of tide of small (S), medium (M) and large (L) on the tide screen which is confusing at first form someone who understands Springs (S) and Neaps (N). Finally, and for me as a novice reviewer I wonder if ‘tough solar’ would make the next generation of this watch a must buy? I confess I rather like this watch, and I have not used the pedometer and the fitness monitoring apps that go with that, yet it has brought me back to the Casio brand. It is a work in progress I think, but the real game changer is that the connect app can make those changes to the software, unlike the previous G-Shocks that you were stuck in time with given their iteration. Casio, well done, I do hope that you will continue to innovate and update, this is for me at least, a really good enticement to keep on ‘watching’ the Casio brand.

It's a pretty bulky watch yet feels light
Loved the display when I saw in videos and it does live upto it's hype. Can see myself using it every day though I have many more watches. The strap could have been a but more comfortable but it's fine.
