Do cigarette holders need a filter? Or no because the cigarette itself does?

It's good and heavy. There are some imperfections in the center from it being drilled out I presume, but nothing too major. There is also a slight smell of cured wood? Kinda chemical smelling but I'm letting it air out before I try it.
