I fish both saltwater and freshwater and was looking for an excellent travel rod and reel combo that I could keep in the car that would not break the bank. This affordable combo fit the bill perfectly. I already have a Plusinno BE4000 and use it surf fishing and have caught a 20+ lb stingray and many other fish and love it. The drag on the BE4000 is smooth and more than adequate, and the reel is incredibly smooth. It's a great lightweight rig on a 7ft medium-heavy rod. This reel is just as smooth and a joy to fish as the BE4000 just a bit smaller. It has a decent drag and a surprisingly smooth retrieve. I primarily use this combo for freshwater pond fishing, and it does not disappoint. It is also great for catching whiting and pompano at the beach. The 7.87ft rod is excellent in getting lures out far and sufficiently handles largemouth bass without overpowering them. Not sure about bigger catfish, but for bass and bluegill – it works great! It is fun to fish, and as I always have it with me. With this always on hand, I simply fish more! I see a pond and I can get a few casts in. This is great when you have a few minutes to fish. This handy compact, telescopic rig fits easily in a small suitcase, bag, or under/behind your seat. You can also easily take it with you while riding a bike. It's a great option when lugging a bulky rod is not practical. I'd say it's definitely worth the money and I would buy again and may get another to have in each car. If you ever drive by a pond and wish you had a reel to get in a few quick casts, this is the ticket. Have fun, fish more, and live a little! Stay safe!

Very impressed with quality, reals are very smooth, rods are well made. Reels are good size too. Definitely can use some heavier line on this real and Catch some heavier fish. I have larger then normal hands so you can get idea of how big the reels are. Most of my reels are smaller than these and i catch pike on them.

So I needed a collapsible rod to take with me when I go on hikes so I purchased this rod and reel combo. For the price I think it can’t be beat. Pros: Collapsing rod Seems to be made very well Collapsible reel handle Drag is good Super portable Smooth reel action Strong rod when you have a fish on Cons: Castability - need a heavy lure to cast well with this one. I had 10lb braid, a 4 ot hook and senko and I could only get it cast out about 20 feet. I put a 4 oz split shot on it and it cast out much farther. A crappie jig probably wouldn’t make it out very far Sensitivity I would rank as a 6/10 Overall weight is a little in the heavy side but not a big issue. Final thoughts: Caught a nice red eared sunfish on the first cast and caught a 1 lb bass after about 8 casts. It’s easy to use for beginners and seasoned anglers. The main thing for me is the collapsibility of rod to take traveling with me. It’s built well, drag is good and for the price it’s worth it to me. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the casting ability, but overall… not a bad little setup.

Was leary based on the price but took a chance. Very happy. Well made. No issues. No slipping of the segments. Great castability. Smooth mechanics and action. Love the compatibility. I keep it in my car, never know when the urge to throw a line in the water will hit. Have had great results with both lures and live bait.

Overall its a decent product for casual use. I see that its a bit cheaper than when I originally purchased so its probably more worth it now. This is a great product if you're looking for a collapsable rod that you can place into your backpack and bring out casually for trips. Also a great rod for kids or introducing fishing to new individuals. This is not a great solution if you're looking for something collapsable to replace your current regular set up. I was able to catch a fish on the reel, but it feels like a toy compared to my standard ones and is nowhere near as smooth. It's also starting to show some wear even after a few uses. After traveling with in my backpack, one of the eyes started to bend and broke off even when using the tip protector that was provided. The material connecting the eyes to the rod is very thin and ends easily. Luckily Plusinno offers great customer service and were very responsive and ended up sending me a replacement for the rod. Which I still carry with me but wrap the end of the rod with an extra layer of protection. If you're looking for a collapsable rod you can carry with you on trips to fish spontaneously, this rod will work. I recommended swapping the reel if you want to upgrade this collapsable rod.

For the price, I didnt expect much, but the reel and pole are actually very good quality. If you've ever fished, you know when a rod/reel combo is cheap. This FAR exceeded expectations. With the folding handle, it fits in a backpack with plenty of room to spare. Surprisingly sensitive. Absolutely worth the money.

Not bad it was a well built Rod i must have gotten the lemon one but i managed to catch decent fish with a 15lb braid i am still using the reel for a different rod. It sucks it did not last longer the tip and the bottom second section snapped

Caught many small mouth bass with this, a few large pikes, and trout. Goes compact easily. Never had a single issue after around 60 hours of fishing. My only complaint is the bag, its hard to get everything to fit back inside. But just throw them in a tackle box and you're good.

Good handy for transportation

I wanted to love this but it just was not durable. The rod broke and it was a very disappointing day out.

Very good rod, hasn't let me down yet. It was my first fishing rod and reel and I've caught a few perch, bream and a 24 inch carp on it so far. It is quite a heavy rod and it does need quite heavy lures with 7g+ so probably better for large rivers and lakes, I struggled on smaller parts and canals a bit. It folds away to a veryyy small size and fits in a backpack easily, plus is quite sturdy. The reel is good, feels nice and smooth and the toggle to unreal is quite useful. The chrome on it is very plasticy but main body looks good. Well lubricated inside but make sure its tightened. I'm probably going to get an ultra light setup going as well but very happy with this one for the price and it's going to stay as my main fishing rod for a while.
