I like pickleball, but I found out this Speedminton/Paddleminton is more flexible. I can play anywhere (on the grass, sand, concrete, etc.). Another plus compared to pickleball is that the birdies won't go far if you miss hitting it. It just landed & stayed there. With pickleball balls, especially for beginners, if you miss hitting the ball, the ball will go far, and you end up tired of picking up those balls.I bought the paddle version (instead of the racket with string) because it's slower for people 45+ yo. The birdie will fly slower and won't fly far compared to hitting it with a racket (with string). Also, this package comes with a smaller court. It's really an all-in-one and ready-to-play package.The Speedminton customer service is also great. I contacted them about my order issue, and they solved it quickly.

Better if the paddles weren’t wood for beach and play near water

We just arrived at the beach and decided to play Speedminton using the birdie. After 5 minutes of non-aggressive play, the top of the paddle cracked. We were really looking forward to this game at the beach. I am going to try to reach out the company for a refund. I will send an update.

I've played a lot of portable paddle games over the years, but this one is my favorite. Just really fun. The key is the speeder (birdie) design. It's similar to a shuttlecock, but it stays airborne just the right amount of time and is small enough not to be affected by the wind too much. Balls come with it too, but I prefer the speeder because it doesn't roll away. You can play this pretty much anywhere. If you want a more structured experience, the set comes with a flat rope to lay down lines wherever you happen to be.
