Breyer Traditional American Pharoah Horse Model

My replacement came today, and he's just fantastic! Legs are not horribly bent, stands up straight, looks amazing! I'm very glad they modified the tail; he would have been just a nice bay without that tail. The paint job on mine is quite nice, and they even managed to make the star as small as possible.I'm not entirely sure I like the black base, maybe it's because it looks so different next to the clear bases from other models on this mold.I'm still very glad they chose this model, because this is how most people are going to remember American Pharoah- in full flight down the stretch at Belmont.I'm leaving the original review in here - I don't want someone else getting bad legs and thinking it hasn't happened before.Although this is a review of the product, Amazon sent the replacement fast.**************************************************************My review of American Pharoah is a work in progress at the moment.We'll start off right away with the big thing- Amazon has his famously misspelled name themselves misspelled.My review is a work in progress since mine came with horribly bent legs. Had I actually gotten him onto the stand, he would have leaned to the point of tipping over. I'm waiting for my replacement at the moment, so we'll see what the other looks like and I'll update the review. The Ruffian mold is one of my favorites, so I was really excited for this guy.He looked beautiful, very nice paint job. I love that they modified the tail to fit the real horse.As always, Breyer really doesn't make the Traditional series as toys. They will break under rough play.I'm hopeful that the replacement comes without issues - I have never had an issue purchasing a Breyer thru Amazon before, so I'm hoping I got a bad model from the factory. If the replacement has bad legs there might be an issue, but fingers crossed there isn't.

American Pharoah is the first horse of my generation to become a triple crown winner and I am delighted to now own a model of him. The horse is beautiful and the model is very large and detailed. The only problem I had was that the box he came in was damaged when it got to me. It had a rather large slit on the side but the horse was not damaged. I will proudly display him in my collection.

Buyer beware! The "breathing hole" as Breyer explained to me when I called them, is much more obvious on this horse than on any other Breyer models I've seen. Of course it's not pictured in this shot or in the packaging (they make sure that this hole is facing back of package!) but at the corner of the lips/mouth, there is a notable sized (and distracting) hole. Also the star in the forehead looks and feels like a chip in the paint. We thought it was a chip until we realized that chipping the paint was how Breyer decided to make the star marking on the forehead. Really??!! It can be felt far more than any other Breyer horses we have with forehead markings and smacks of shoddy workmanship. All in all, it feels like Breyer was in a rush to mass market a really popular horse as there is big demand for it, but is not living up to their reputation for quality. Very disappointing. Other than the flaws, the horse is lovely and we ended up deciding to keep it, as it is AMERICAN PHAROAH and we wanted a model of him. I think that's what Breyer counted on, that people would buy it anyway despite the poor production. My esteem for them is much diminished.

I bought this as a gift to my mother who loves Pharoah and who collected Breyer as a kid. She loved it!! The only thing that I don't like is that you can't see his name and the wording at the base of the stand very well. She intends on keeping it in the box and displaying it that way and it's hard to see. That is the ONLY complaint, though. Great quality and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they came out with a Pharoah horse. He's one of a kind. :)

I still remember watching Pharoah race his way into history. I always loved Breyers - as they are the ultimate horse lover collectable - and so I knew I had to have this one. I wish the stand was a little nicer, such as a harder plastic resin, but overall I'm very happy with this purchase. He is one of my favorite pieces!

Box was slightly damaged

My daughter is a horse fanatic. She couldn't love this model more. She has studied and followed the stories of many 20th century racehorses (Seabiscuit, Man O War, War Admiral, Secretariat, etc.) and is delighted to have a triple crown winner in her time, and to have a detailed and beautiful model of him too!

Beautiful model! I collect Breyers and am really glad to find them here on Amazon!
