Does this bag have a laptop compartment? Thanks

No. I put my laptop in it but there is no padding at the bottom of the bag so it's not safe for one

are the straps durable and able to support heavy things (i.e. textbooks, etc.) or would they rip?

I have used this for a trip to Norway , in the snow during a massive snowstorm that lasted days. I had cameras , maps , water bottles and heavy stuff. I was surprised the backpack it's still in great condition , waterproof , really for this price You can't get any better. Only thing I miss with this is the strap on the waist Overall is a great travel and everyday companion

does this bag have a chest strap

As other people have stated, it doesn't have a chest strap, but if you can scavenge some nylon strapping and a plastic snap buckle you can easily make your own, I did. It works fine.

Would this hold enough clothes for a week?

I very much doubt it. I would say even for a weekend this bag is too small. A bigger hold-all would be more suitable

The color is a bit greener than in photos but it might be just due to technology hiccups. Very good, multifunctional, pleanty if storage space - several separate compartments - yet not looking massive like my previous backpack by another make ! ✨️👍 Would have given five stars if it had firmer back support. Excellent Bag

Roomy robust and lasts well even under heavy duty work usage. Stores plenty, straps are easily of standard adjustable lengths and are reasonably comfy even when loaded heavy. Whilst its not going to keep out a torrential downpour, the material is thick enough to protect the contents in light to medium rain showers. This is used on the railway and is constantly under heavy load and lasts very well. Overall very happy with this bag, its longevity, as well as its storage nooks and cranny's.
