Q: Is it guaranteed to come razor sharp?

COLD STEEL states razor sharp. In reading the reviews before I purchased a few stated bad blade angles this was the case for mine. I put the angle to 15° which works for my needs from this blade. I have also found the blade release to be rather "stiff". I started with COLD STEEL in 1999 with a Voyager Tanto, this was well before the sold to the boys in Texas. It is a heafty rugged knife. It hasn't failed in any task in the field.

Q: Is aus 10a steel a high quality blade material? how is it compared to cpm3v steel?

Apples and oranges, AUS 10A is a stainless steel in the 440C class, while CPM 3V is a high alloy tool steel. Cold Steel does a very good job with AUS 10A and in the 4Max Scout has preformed very well for me in some very demanding tasks.

No, you’re thinking of the 4-max elite, which is $500. “Instead of a G-10 handle the 4 Max Scout has one made of Griv-Ex™ with stainless steel liners and a Griv-Ex™ back spacer.” That being said, I’ve owned many Cold Steel knives...and is is BY FAR the best bang for the buck of any knife I’ve owned. As a matter of fact, I should buy another one, just to have.
