Near useless due to weight
The weight of the lens and clamps makes this thing fall over constantly due to the base not having enough weight. It got the job done, but I wouldn't have purchased this if I'd known how flimsy it was. Also, the bracket that attaches the clamps is some wonky contraption that someone just thought was a good idea. Simple plastic clamps would have worked better for that.

Just what an old man needs...
Ordered this to help my old eyes see and paint miniatures...works like a charm. The double LED's are nice and bright. Lens is a little small, but workable. Gator clip attachment was difficult to mount but works. The soldering iron stand is a little shaky no matter how hard it's tightened, but that wasn't what I bought this for anyway. Overall a decent ChiCom product for the price.

Too lightweight in the base and turns over easily. The locking nuts have to be torqued down with a pair of pliers to keep arms from moving around. I like the lit magnifying glass. If I soldered wires more than rarely, I would look for something with a beaver base. Even the weight of solder iron turns it over.

Overall, a good deal!
Pros: Lightweight. Balanced well. Magnifying glass/LED combo work well - I can see the wiring I’m going to solder brightly and sharply.Cons: Center arms clamp wasn’t so easily assembled, and occasionally loosens. Will try using a washer on it. Soldering iron holder upsets balance when I’ve used it (which isn't often). If ever I have to replace this one, I’d buy this same model.

Hard to assemble
Worked OK, but even four hands couldn't assemble it. We came up with a solution using a rubber band to hold everything in place while tightening the screw around the ball joint. It was still a little loose at that joint, but worked OK.

Worth what it costs, but a more expensive unit is a better deal in the long run.
The unit is okay for its price, but the flex neck for the magnifier is too short and the metal used for the mounting assemblies is low-quality making adjusting the clips difficult. Also, the plastic base means that it's too easy to overload with a single circuit board causing it to tip.

Decent product, and the light is much brighter than I expected. Half the time I just use it for the light. The clips hold well, without marring what you're working on (I use it for metal models, so far). The soldering iron holder is removable if you don't need it.

Awesome magnifier!
I absolutely love this magnifier! I'm visually impaired and it helps me with crafts, doing medicine, sewing, and more. It is extremely lightweight and easy to take where I need. It was definitely a fordable compared to other options as well. I'm definitely a fan!

very handy to have around.
It is a good thing to aid in soldering wires together at their ends, circuit boards, ect.I found the clamping a little dodgy.I ran a deburring tool on a cordless drill into all of the ball holes to deepen them, and added small washers to the tab and wingnut sides of the threads. It is clamping tighter now.The ball ends should be rounder then they are and all equal in size. This would make it a better tool but would effect the price too I'm sure. All in all, I would buy it again if I lost this one!!!
