As a professional motorcycle mechanic I move quite a lot of bikes around in a van. Securing them is of the upmost importance of course. These ratchet down to a short space, very short and most ratchet straps fail to do this. I got the 25mm straps as these are sufficient for the rear if a van. If I was moving on say a trailer a trailer I’d be inclined to get the 50mm ones simply for even stronger security. The mechanism that retracts the strap ( it’s great this function) is made of metal and in truth bulky enough and also quite heavy. Used for internal securing is grand but on a trailer open to the elements in the UK I’m not sure how well this would stand up to the rest of a couple of winters. As it’s enclosed should it fail I’m not sure how you could retract the strap. Overall I’m pleased with them.Ok but of an update and a negative mark. The straps are a bit too thin as in thickness rather than width. I understand that increasing the thickness would in turn impact on the mechanism that it would need to be larger to hold the straps. Already quite heavy so I’ll guess it’s simply a trade off.
