If you get headaches/migraines, you may have methylation issues
So I got these pills 4 days ago and have only taken 1 a day. The first time, I almost immediately got a headache. Now I have suffered from migraines in the past, on and off, but I came here to search for reviews that mentioned headaches or migraines and found quite a few, and they were recommending avoiding this supplement. But I ordered this supplement because I really need help with my depression, so I wasn't going to give up that easily. I noticed some reviewers mentioning MTHFR which is an issue for me. Looking it up, it turns out that people with MTHFR have issues metabolizing l-tyrosine because it requires folate (also copper and vitamin C). Since most of what we get (fortified foods and the average vitamin supplements) contains folic acid (which is not natural) and our bodies have a hard time using that where folate is needed (and some can't use it at all), the l-tyrosine doesn't get rapidly metabolized as it's supposed to be and lingers. That is what I read causes the headaches/migraines. I have a methylated B complex. So as a test, I took one of those pills (and the daily dosage recommended is 2, but I've never taken that much) and the headache went away. I also have vitamin C (sodium ascorbate powder) and would have tried that next. I was actually kind of hoping to avoid taking another pill everyday. I'm a slacker in that regard. My husband has exactly the same methylation issues as I do and he got a migraine. The methylated B complex also worked for him. I didn't tell him beforehand that it would. In fact, he assumed I still had the headache. So to those who are getting headaches/migraines from this product, you could have problems metabolizing the l-tyrosine because of methylation issues. If you have already done DNA testing and you've gotten a report from Promethease, check it for MTHFR. If you've done testing but don't want to pay for Promethease, use codegen dot eu instead. If you already have vitamin C at home, give that a shot too. Maybe you're already good on methylated B vitamins but you're not getting enough vitamin C. And less likely is low copper, but I have heard of it. Best to get copper levels tested before you go supplementing with it though. Don't mess around too much with metal levels. As for how well the product works, let me just say wow, the absorption rate is incredibly fast. I feel very mellow, and even though I can still get angry, I don't feel like it consumes me like it used to. I can calm down quickly and easily without issues. My husband seems quite mellow now too. I haven't asked him how he feels. I've just been observing him. He doesn't seem to get agitated easily on this. If he does get angry, it stops almost as soon as it starts. I don't think I've heard him swear at all in the last 4 days. He's much more pleasant to be around which helps my mood as well, but I can tell you I don't usually feel this mellow. I even found myself smiling and singing and dancing randomly. I seem to have more trouble getting to sleep at night even though I take it as soon as I wake up and nowhere near bedtime, but my husband has been going to sleep earlier and actually talking about feeling tired. So there it seems to be having opposite effects on us. I don't mind though because my mood has not been this good in years, and it's amazing not seeing my husband stay up all night like he used to. I'm going to use melatonin at night long enough to see if it can help me get back on track. At least once I get to sleep, I do sleep well, even when I don't sleep enough. Usually, if I woke up after 6 hours of sleep, I felt like someone rubbed sand in my eyes and that would last until I did get enough sleep.

Must have for low mood, focus, and stress. I love these!
As a SAHM and wife, I absolutely love this product! Gives me the mental focus and clarity I need to go through my day. Boost my mood and I take 2 a day. Once in the morning and another in the afternoon. It’s apart of my daily ritual. They are super easy to swallow, has no smell, and 120 lasts me almost 2.5 months- 3 months. Has helped with my low Thyroid. Don’t recommend taking before bed maybe a couple hours before. Helps with stress, focus, and mood. Great quality and inexpensive. I say very effective!

My Honest Review
I never write reviews, but felt for this one I would. I did my research beforehand as I had read it was a good one to take for mental clarity, focus, sleeplessness and overall happiness. I have been taking it for a month now and here is my own results and observations since I started. My mental clarity and focus was improved. I have never been diagnosed with ADHD, however I have always been one to get easily distracted and never finish a project unless I’m under fire. This hasn’t been a problem per se, but since having kids it’s been harder. I get interested in something and start it, but then something else comes up and I move on and never go back. The same goes for work. I work on a project and get asked a question or for help with something and then I lose focus and motivation so it’s hard to get going again. This helped. It’s not a miracle drug so don’t expect that, but it’s makes the transition easier and getting back on track easier. It’s what I needed. My sleep wasn’t necessarily bad, but it also improved. I’ve been wearing a FitBit to bed for years and my awake time was consistently more than 10% of my total sleep time (time from when I went to bed to time I woke up). Most of this 10% was time I was technically sleeping, but my body registered “awake” even if I didn’t remember it. Since taking the l-tyrosine it’s been consistently below 10%. Again, it’s not a miracle drug, but any improvement I attribute to the one change I made to myself and that was taking this. Also, my sleep score went from a below 90 average to above 90. I feel good when I wake up now and don’t feel the need for a nap mid-day so that’s a plus! The overall happiness was something that I read, but wasn’t something I struggled with or cared about, but I did see some improvement there too. Could it be the better sleep or the happiness from staying focused more? Finishing more projects than usual? Possibly, but either way I’ll take it! What I didn’t anticipate was the curbing of any sugar cravings and this was wonderful! I always want something sweet. I crave the sweetness, but since taking this supplement I don’t crave the sugar. No chocolate, no cookies, no ice cream. I’m not saying I didn’t indulge once in awhile, but I didn’t crave it anymore. With that being said, I did manage to lose 5 lbs this month! With this being said I will say that I read taking the L-tyrosine with a B6 supplement helps it be more effective and so I did take my Vitamin B Complex, L-tyrosine and my Vitamin D all at the same time. The B Complex and Vitamin D I had already been taking and I only added the L-tyrosine in the last month. I’m not sure if it would work differently without the B Complex or not, but I figured I’d mention it just in case. Hope my feedback helps anyone else considering taking this!

It does work as occasional support only
I was pleasantly surprised by the initial results with L-tyrosine. Within the first few days, I noticed a clear improvement in focus, mental clarity, and overall mood. It provided a subtle yet effective boost that felt natural and helped me stay productive throughout the day without any jitters or crashes. However, after continued use, I observed that the effects began to diminish noticeably. It seems that my body quickly adapted to the supplement, and the initial benefits were no longer as pronounced. While it may still offer support at a baseline level, the initial sharpness I experienced was not sustained over time. This could still be a worthwhile supplement for short-term use or occasional support, but for long-term daily use, the diminishing returns are worth considering.

Good quality and good price
I can tolerate the day much better now. I was getting grumpy and depressed and irritable for no reason. This takes the edge off and I am back to smiling and laughing again. I feel normal again for now. I have heard this benefit could be short lived but anything to get over the occasional downs.

Warning: wonderful changes for me, but it's not for everyone.
I take this brand of l-tyrosine daily, every morning, and it has helped me noticeably with my energy and anxiety levels. I have a fructose malabsorption problem that interferes with my uptake of certain neurotransmitter precursors, and supplementing with this on an empty stomach seems to help me focus and feel a little more motivated. I do take a much lower dose than recommended - I split the contents of each capsule up into four capsules, effectively taking 1/4 of a capsule every day, about 125mg, but I am so sensitive to medications/supplements that I typically take 1/4 to 1/3 the regular-strength dose for really everything (including things like ibuprofen and claritin). Taking a larger dose of tyrosine has a noticeable effect on my libido and also makes me feel extremely calm (and a little uncoordinated). As long as I wait an hour to eat after taking a small dose, I have mild, but positive effects. (Eating right away means I have no noticeable effects; I assume this is because other amino acids in the food I eat have higher priority and out-compete tyrosine.) If I stop taking it for a few days, I don't notice any awful withdrawal symptoms. This seems to be a much more predictable and less dependency-inducing supplement than I have heard L-DOPA to be, although I have not tried L-DOPA myself. On the flip side... I recommended this to my husband, who struggles with lack of focus and motivation (he's in a really thought-intensive occupation, so this is particularly disruptive). He took a full capsule every morning for a week or so. The first few days, he felt like he had a little more energy and motivation, and that he was able to lift a bit more on his workouts; he said it was about the same as a cup of coffee, except without the jitteriness, and the effect was strongest about 2-3 hours after taking it on an empty stomach and lasted several hours. However, after about three days, his mood shifted so drastically that he was really impossible to live with. He became extremely angry, on-edge, defensive, aggressive, critical, negative, and prone to violent outbursts. It was a complete and terrifying transformation; he became a brute, where normally he is a patient, gentle, kind man. It took a few days before I realized what was causing the change, and he stopped taking it. The next day, he returned to being gentle and loving, with no noticeable traces of the monster he'd been. Perhaps he needed a smaller dosage, although we weren't willing to try, and I'm not sure this would have helped. Really, I think his physiology wasn't meshing with the tyrosine supplementation, but I don't know how we would have predicted that before we tried it. Biochemistry is a complicated business. So, do I recommend it? I recommend that if you have difficulty focusing, getting motivated, and dealing with crippling anxiety, you try it, in low doses, and watch your moods carefully. Be prepared for the possibility that you become a raging monster, and if you do, stop taking this stuff ASAP. However, there's a chance that you'll have wonderfully positive effects from it, too, like I did. I say try it and see, just be mindful of what's happening. TL;DR: It made me calmer and more focused in small doses, but it turned my husband into a raging demon with regular-strength doses. Try it in small doses and watch the effects carefully. It may or may not be worth it. It was for me, definitely not for him.

Very subtle, but I feel different!
I was hesitant to try tyrosine because some reviews say it made people very angry. After years of wondering, I decided to try it. It's best taken when I woke up since it causes some slight restlessness. Let me tell you, I had zero desire or motivation before starting these, but after a month or so of taking it once a day, I noticed I'm able to learn new things faster, and stick to it. I noticed no anger or mental status changes other than feeling more motivated. Sometimes it gives me slight acid reflux. It has no taste at all. The pill quality looks clean and nothing was damaged. I heard it's a precursor for dopamine so I started taking it Once I noticed the improvements, I stopped taking it like people suggested, so I don't go over my sero/dopa balance. If I feel like I want to quit my normal routines, I take one again to top it off. This isn't a miracle pill obviously, but if you have things you keep putting off that you genuinely wanted to do, tyrosine seems to enhance that motivation for me. Maybe it can for others too, hopefully!

Works Really good for anxiety, depression
As someone who is self-employed, without insurance, and has been diagnosed several times with clinical depression I've been motivated to do a lot of research on natural remedies to coping with this "illness" rather than go the RX route. I've taken probably 15 different "cures" or combination of such over the past 5 years and have found a combo that works for me. Not a cure, just something that makes the low times shorter and less intense. Which to some people, is a cure in itself. The first thing I found to be effective is L-Tyrosine (hence the review), Now Foods L-Tyrosine 500mg, 120-Capsules is an amino acid that your body can create on its own or get from food. It is a precursor to several neurotransmitters, including epinephrine or adrenaline, norepinephrine and dopamine. Two of these compounds, epinephrine and norepinephrine, are commonly called stress hormones because your body releases them as part of the mechanism that helps you deal with stress. As a result, increasing your levels of L-tyrosine may help you cope with situations that might trigger anxiety. I've tried a number of different supplements with and without L-tyrosine and have found the best results for me have come from taking this and TranquiliX; #1 Top Rated For Rapid Anxiety and Stress Relief ★ Pharmaceutical Grade Anti-Anxiety Formula for Relaxation and Stress Reduction With Mood Support & Patented AES® Delivery System for Maximum Absorption ★ Try it 100% Risk Free! . Its a cocktail of a few different anxiety ingredients and works pretty darn well when I combine it with the L-tyrosine. I still do have the ocassional "episode", as my wife likes to call them. But adding these two supplements along with a healthy diet and exercise has made the world look much brighter through my eyes.
