Used before my cut to get body measurements

This definitely comes in handy when you need a quick measurement but it’s almost impossible to keep the white peg in place when you’re not holding it down. I wish it had a magnet in it to keep it in place.

Measuring things with a cloth tape measure has become difficult for me. I needed to take various body measurements and there was simply no way I could do it with a traditional tape measure without assistance. Browsing Amazon I found this product and it was inexpensive and even came with a second traditional tape measure. I really didn’t expect much in terms of quality. Happily, I was surprised. The quality is higher than I expected. One end of the tape fits into a slot and then you push a button to retract it. The housing itself takes up two inches and is clearly printed on the case body. I think a person with full finger dexterity could use the device handily. I have to form a loop with the tape, fasten the end into the slot, pass the loop over the body part I want to measure and then click the button to retract the tape. My concern is that the retracting button won’t last long. I have nothing to support that claim, just an impression from the overall quality of construction. I think it will do well for the short term, but won’t last. But the unit is so useful for me and so inexpensive, I will accept a short working life and by another if and when it gives out. In my opinion, an excellent value. Jerry

This body tape measure was easier to use than expected. The self-locking feature makes it simple to check your own measurements without a second person. I’ve used it for tailoring clothes and tracking fitness. Accurate, compact, and weirdly satisfying to use.

I got this free as a promotion -- I think the seller realizes, quite correctly, that it is probably nearly IMPOSSIBLE to crack the top 10, let alone top 2 sellers on Amazon without some marketing. In today's day and age, that pretty much means giving away free stuff. I mean, who watches commercials any more? so it goes.. Anyway, You can see by my other reviews that I'm an honest reviewer. This is my first 'freebie' review - I hope I get more of these! My reviews are not based on freeness...so we'll see. In any case, this is DEFINTELY a 5 star product/deal. The spring-loaded measurer is KEY for an accurate belly measurement - you pull it around yourself, insrt the beginning tip of the tape into the plastic home base. DON'T press the button. pull tip back out, look at the number. That's your waistline. Don't faint. We'll get through this together; there are some GREAT exercise videos on youtube. Anyway, press the button, the thing retracts. I LOVE that the spring loaded retraction is not forceful -- I HATE getting my finger snapped, etc. This one pulls the tape back perfectly well, but not super-forcefully /irritating. Good job. Like many of these devices, the measurement number on the tape expertly takes into account the part that isn't measure by the plastic. In simple terms, if you wrapped this thing around a 42" belly, the tape would read 42" (of course). 2" of that amount would be the part of the plastic housing that is touching your belly, 40" would be the part of the tape also encircling your belly. (so...fwiw, the part of tape that is pulled out is 40" long, but add the 2" of plastic housing, and you have a 42" belly. And what is written on the tape, that you can see? 42". Perfect). BTW, the numbers are large and easy to read. great. This item ALSO includes a seamstresses tape. What a cool bonus. And all for $4.99 plus tax? Amazing. This is a perfect product and a great deal. I'd have rated it 5stars at any price. At this price...can I mark 6 stars?

It is a good product , I bought it to take measurements of the muscles , and it works very well , I must confess that it occurred to me to use it also to measure something else , and I was quite surprised . I did not know that I had something good. 🤣

The tention on the telescopic tape is strong enoug. It will be faster with the normal tape if you already get used to it.
