Seems Legit
It's a bit stiff and needs to be broken in. It seems nice. The black leather looks good on my reddish brown bull dog. He will get used to it.The leather seems sufficient. The stitching is what you would expect on a dog collar. It was difficult to put on my dog because its stiff and he was curious about it and squirmy.Overall It seems very nice. The 1 inch doesn't look overly large or too small on him. He is 80 pounds with a thick muscular neck. He is a powerful dog but extremely gentle around people so I don't need something that's maximum control on him. It feels like if I ever did need to "control him" with it I could. My confidence is in my dog as well as the collar. He is a companion that helps me watch the house and not anything more.If you feel like your large powerful dog will pull the leash or "go after" things... squirrels, lizards, skateboards, delivery people... you may want a wider style. 1.5" or more. Its all about personality and how well they respond to you. I have had my dog pull me going after things but not with a huge surge of strength. I feel this collar is appropriate for my needs.I really like that this black leather collar is not studded or spiked. Its really not the vibe I want to put out with my dog. He is approachable and loves kids. This collar keeps that friendly look to him. It was important to me. He is a good ambassador for bully breeds. Kids can hug him and not get hurt on it.This is just my first impressions and thoughts after handling the collar and putting it on him. If I need to update for any reason I will.

Cat Collar
I purchased five of these for my rescue cats ranging in size from 12 pounds to 16 pounds. They are inside only cats. The hole closest to the end fits perfectly for all but the largest cat and we needed to add an extra hole. When we measured their necks ahead of time they measured 10 to 10 1/2 inches. The 3/8 inch width is the perfect look for a cat's neck. I have been searching for months at many different stores and online for leather collars and they have all been expensive in price or looked inexpensive in quality because I am tired of buying less durable ones and replacing sometimes monthly. I have only had these on for a couple of days but it is obvious they are made of a very durable quality leather. Since they are on cats I can not tell you how they will hold up against water:) The holes are larger which could cause weak spots over time since they are only 3/8 inch in width, but time will tell. The buckle is very shiny and heavy and looks expensive. The collars ranged from more redish burgundy to more brown but that wasn't a problem for me. A few of the collars were a little harder to get on because the leather was thick compared to the buckle but this was only a minor issue. All of my cats are leaving them alone and the leather feels bendable as with better quality leather. My only complaint is that I would have preferred more collar choices at this price range.

sturdy, and its really a very nice looking collar
I purchased this in the 22" size, and my dog's neck measures 19". I was worried after reading some reviews it might not have been the right size, but it fits her well on the next to last hole, and the leather is thick, sturdy, and its really a very nice looking collar. Sashi looks like quite the handsome dog in her new duds and the price was right on this buy. Hopefully it holds up well over time and I'm not buying her a new one any time soon. Her previous nylon collar the buckle itself broke after about 3 years.Edit: Our girl has been wearing this for a few weeks now, and one thing I've noticed is if you're really worried about how defined the styling is on this collar, don't be. Every time she scratches, the collar gets a new "scar" from her nails. I can't even see the original tooling in the leather from all of the scrapes and scratches on it from her nails. That said, I bought this collar because it was simply designed and looked like it would hold up well over time.I can't say if the dye bleeds when it gets wet as we live in the desert, and neither of our girls are keen on playing in the rain.

I really like it and it is built well and I trust ...
OK so I am giving this collar a 3 rating, Don't get me wrong. I really like it and it is built well and I trust it to hold up. I read some of the past reviews and everyone said order a larger size. So I did. My dogs neck is 16 inches. I ordered a 20 inch to make sure we had some room.. Well, my Beagle is getting a new collar as this 20 inch just fits my Alaskan Husky on the last hole.. I don't like a collar fastened so close to the end.I don't feel secure enough on the last hole. I am going to order another one for my Alaskan Husky but I am going to order a 24 inch. The size they give you is end to end. It is not sized like any others that I have ever ordered. The price is nice as the ones just like this in the store are at least 10 or more dollars for this quality. I hope with all the reviews about their sizing problems that they will change something here or I for see a lot of collars being sent back. If I would not have another dog to use this one on and the price was not so nice I would be sending it back. So, just make sure you add a few extra inches. I just need to figure our for sure how big to order as for a dog with a 16 inch neck and to have a 20 inch with only the last hole that fits her makes it hard to decide what size I want to feel comfortable so I can use it and not waste my time re ordering again.

Someone Elses Leftovers?
I am so not pleased with the workmanship of this collar. Thank God Im only using it for a brief time until my pup turns a year old. The picture they show you is of a beautiful mohagany collared leather that looks thick and shiny and well buffed. This thing is HIDEOUS!! It came with those scuff marks as if it was laying around or possibly a return from someone else and I ended up with their leftovers. The leather is HARD!! It is DRY! And it is STIFF!! This thing will probably crack in cold temps. I would like a refund but i already angrily stabbed a hole through it to make a notch for it to fit my puppy better. LOL.

Size guide incorrect; stiff collar. Wouldn’t recommend
Bought the 18 inch based on the size guide, and going 2 inches larger than the neck circumference and the collar is way too tight on my medium size dog. My dog is 16 inches, and the collar was 18 length, but the largest hole is at 16 inches. So really you want to go up 4 inches in size i would say if you want to have adjustments on the collar. It’s also very stiff. Personally wouldn’t recommend this, spend a bit more and go to a local pet store.

Stiff but softens over time
We have been using this brand for years. The collar is stiff and very ‘red’ when you first buy it - but trust me when I say that it ages beautifully. It will soften over time (as leather does) and will also darken to a darker brown. It is strong and durable, but I do find the leather wears down quickly (just the look, not functionality) which is why we buy a new one every couple of years.

Very happy with the collar.
We bought this for our 85 lb Lab Sheppard mix who has the energy of a hamster. We've forgotten to take it off when he's gone swimming in the lake at times. It's been several months and he still wears it. It's no longer reddish but more a dark brown. It has stretched from all the pulling and we had to punch another hole on it.In short, great product and value for the money. The buckle is not even rusty. Very happy with it.
