Outstanding product and customer service
I bought this stick in 2021 after an unleashed Boxer started a fight with my leashed German Shepherd. She held her own during the fight , but she and I were both dog reactive after that. Just zapping, this thing usually does the trick. The dog hears the sound and turns tail. It's now August 2024 and the original battery is still working! I noticed that I lost one of the prongs so I contacted the manufacturer via Amazon. I had a response within twenty four hours. The manufacturer is sending me a replacement part and installation instructions. Great product and customer service!

Wow!
This is the second one I have purchased. I bought one years ago and still use it. For a few years I couldn’t find another to buy, but I found them this year on Amazon. I bought mine for when I go walking, in case a loose dog comes up. I’ve never had to use it. The sound of the discharge is enough to make them back up. Or take the rubber cap off and use the metal spikes to push something away. I use it as a walking stick. It just feels very balanced and sturdy. The flashlight is so bright and lights up everything.the batteries last a good while. The second one I bought is for a young woman who walks her dog and has concerns. She says she now feels safer. I will be buying more to give.

Great little undercover self defense tool
Overall, I LOVE this thing. I bought it when I started working for Rover & Wags then kept using it to walk my own dogs, especially after dark. The Good stuff: I love that there's a good 2ft of space between me and the spicy part, which means there's at least 2 ft between me and whatever is gonna FAFO. Initially, I was surprised that the spicy end was on the end of the handle and not the tip but after use, it does make more sense that way. The handle is already in your hand so it's nothing to pull the protective cover off and thrust it forward while reaching down for the "go" button. It also allows for 4 points of contact instead of the 2 that would be all you could fit in the tip... which makes it SUPER loud. I've never had to actually pop someone with it, but the noise makes a great deterrent and comes in handy at the dog park to break up fights. The grip is really comfortable and I like that it telescopes to a shorter length. I carry it like a baton on walks unless I actually need it as a walking stick. It also fit nicely in a backpack or side pocket on a hiking pack so it's easily accessible. The light in the handle is bright! And the bright metallic orange color and yellow/green reflective strap make it easily visible at night. It's not rechargeable but it is really efficient. I've had it for almost 4 years and have yet to change the battery. The Meh: The Spicy "on" button and the "go" button are directly opposite each other, which wouldn't be a bad thing except they're identical. If you don't leave it armed all the time, then it takes an extra second to turn it on, find out you pressed the wrong button, finally get it turned on, then hit the go button. If you do leave it armed, hopefully the guard is still on and/or pointed away from you when you hit the "go" button instead of the "on" button because you forgot it was already on. I suggest practicing going from walking mode to defense mode a few times. Definitely make sure the guard is on properly. It fits snuggly when on correctly but pops off easily if it isn't. The pointy contacts are SUPER sharp. The cover for the battery pack is thankfully connected via a chain. The balance for it is right around where the battery pack and spicy buttons are. If not being used as a walking stick, it's the perfect place to carry it. I've accidentally loosened the cap a few times and nearly lost the batteries out on a walk or in the car. Found them luckily but it's easier than it should be to lose them. The flashlight is on top in the same location as the taser, which can be inconvenient. If you need it to, say... find the dog poop in the dark... putting it under an arm either points it in the wrong direction or it unbalanced itself & tries to fall in the poop. The beam is a bit too narrow to just leave it on the ground. Also, you can't use it as a flashlight and a hiking stick at the same time. It's considerably heavier than a standard hiking stick but worth it, imo. I'm thinking about upgrading to the fancier version but this simple one checks all the necessary boxes.

Ineed this
Me and my little dog got chased down the street by two bigger, badder dogs. I wish I had the stick then. This is a great idea but there was one problem I could not overcome. That was that I could not get the rubber caps back on the striking tip and neither could my handyman. A good fix might be to replace the rubber tip with a rubber cup that could be pulled back from the striking part and pushed forward to put away. I will be watching their sight b/c I think this is an important product. Also, a training video would be nice.

For dealing with clueless owners of dogs
What is with all the irresponsible dog owners? This has solved our problem. My dogs, trained, well behaved now can be protected from people who don’t have a clue about their dogs. As they yell “my dogs friendly” as their dog attacks my dogs…we fire this up and the sound alone makes their dog jump back and by then the owner is running over to deal with the dog. Sheesh…it takes a zap stick to wake people up. Seriously? I have no desire to zap a dog…not their fault their owner is clueless or an idiot, not sure which. My main goal is protect my dog. This item will do that for most dogs. BUT, people be responsible using this thing! It means business!

Junk
Light stopped working the first week. Zapper just stopped operating after the first month. Wasn’t dropped or played with. I had high hopes for it but it was a complete waste of money.

Good deterrent
My chocolate Labrador puppy and I have been attacked by neighborhood dogs in the last 9 months. I decided to do research to see the best protection for the two of us. After much research I decided to purchase this item. A few days ago, two of the dogs that previously attacked us were in the back of a truck with a canopy, they opened the back of it with their force and were headed out of the truck towards us. I fired up this taser and the dogs retreated back to the truck. They kept barking but never left that truck! It’s a great deterrent and I hope I never have to really use it because it’s going to hurt.
