So I order it on amazon and of course it gets here in record time and in good shape. Removing it from the box I could ...
I was hesitant to purchase this after reading reviews on the item, stating that it cuts "crooked" cases. BUT a friend of mine {8 states away so I couldn't put my hands on his in person} has one and swears it is worth every penny. So I order it on amazon and of course it gets here in record time and in good shape.Removing it from the box I could tell it was a good quality machine, its heavy, made of thick well machined parts, and came with just about everything I needed, the only part I had to purchase was the #45 shell holder, but it comes with every other one I would need {most people do not cut 45acp since they get shorter when fired unlike other calibers, but I have a special need}... It came with small and large primer pocket cleaners, a bunch of brushes, a bunch of pilots, and a nice cutter...So the first thing I do with any of my Hornady gear is clean it with rubbing alcohol then relube it with the appropriate product. Hornady coats their products with a anti rust corrosion prohibitor of some sort, it works great because I never received a rusty hirnady part BUT its not a great lube... I disassembled the slide and all of its components {very straight forward and easy to do}, cleaned them, dried them and lubed them with mobil one purple grease, its nice and heavy and will never need to be done again, it stays clean for ever and I have yet to find something more "slippery". After putting it all back together and installing the proper shell holder, pilot, reamers, and brushes, I grabbed a 38 shell and went to work...AND GUESS WHAT? The first case was crooked!!!! I couldn't believe it after all this I was going to have to return this thing and get the RCBS unit, so I called my buddy and told him "the unit is great, looks good on the bench but cuts crooked cases..." The first words out of his mouth were "tighten the handle in the back of the machine", so I spin it around and there is the handle loose as can be, lol.. I centered everything, tightened it down and cut another case while he was on the phone.. PERFECTION!!!I have done about 1000 rounds so far, measuring every once and a while and the machine is nice, it does a really good job... Key is make sure everything is tight, make sure your oring is in good shape, use a hornady shell plate {not sure if this makes a difference I haven't tried a lee yet, but my buddy says it does work better...In closing, its expensive because there is a lot there, they give you a nice slow and strong motor, a nice heavy chassis and a good amount of cutters, brushers, cleaners, holders, and reamers to start with...PS I also added a foot switch to the unit, its much easier than reaching behind it, bought it on amazon and it plugs right into the unit... Good luck and reload..

Superior Hornady Product
I have been reloading since the early 1980's and just made the move to the Hornady Lock N Load Case Prep Center. I took several months and did my due diligence, checking reviews, other products and going to retailers that carry the product to get a feel for it. So I ordered it and as typical with Hornady products it is top of the heap. well constructed and finely milled for exact measurements. when preforming the case trimming function the Prep Center is flawless. It is ease to get it set. it took about 5 times to set it for my .223/5.56 at 1.750. after that it did 250 without error. Then, just to test it, I set it to do 357 Sig. It took 7 times to set it and I did 200 of them. then went back to the .223 and set it in 3 try's, again from there, right on point. The other tool positions make it a quick operation. you can resize, ream, de-burr, clean the primer pocket and inside neck clean wit the brush all without the case leaving your hand. Before I had to take 100 cases, after using the Hornady Sonic Cleaner, take a lot of time resizing each one. Then de-burr and ream all 100 and finally, clean the primer pocket. it took a long time. I can now do 20 cases in the time it would have taken to do 5. Outstanding tool.If you really want to speed up your reloading and have it be accurate then the Hornady Lock N Load Case Prep Center should be your next purchase.

Hornandy Case Prep Center
This is one awesome piece of machinery. Well Built and not too loud. this was built to last. Not as expensive and easy as the Henderson Precision Gen II nor the Giraud. Paid just over 500 bucks but I'm impressed with the craftsmanship. This does everything I need and simple to use

Pretty good product for the price.
After using this unit for a couple of months (and several hundred pieces of brass processed), I found that the QC from the Hornady factory could use some work. I found that the lowering handle was pretty gritty and not as smooth as I would have expected from a top-of-the-line manufacturer such as Hornady. I disassembled the lowering handle and took a Dremel tool to the underside where it contacts the ball bearing and I smoothed out the ridges made from the cutting tool; this improved the action IMMENSELY!! It is now smooth as silk. I should NOT have had to do this. Also, the instructions that came with the unit could use some work as they are not very clear and informative. If I hadn't been familiar with the entire processing procedure, then I would have had a LOT of trouble getting everything set up. Overall, I believe that this is a good product; just a little pricey for what should have had better quality control.

dont waste your money
I am a big fan of hornady but this trimmer is a huge disappointment. There are alot of things hornady could have done better especially for the price of this unit. First off the setup takes a long time and is very difficult to get set to trim brass to correct length. They have an adjustment knob on top with hash marks but no reference mark on top of the unit its self to line the marks on the knob up with. The trimmer seams to trim very slow for an electric trimmer. It took me anywhere from 10 to 20 seconds per shell. This machine does not seem to be very consistent either. I was seeing as much as a .010 variance in shell case length. Also it does not seem to hold its adjustment so after 15 or 20 shells you would have to adjust it again. Also it is hard to tell when its done trimming because motor sound does not seem to change and you don't really feel anything through the handle. The only thing this unit does well is deburr and chamfer and makes a good paper weight. If you want a good electric trimmer at half the price look into the Frankford arsenal. I just bought it and it works great. Trims cases in 3 to 5 seconds and is very consistent. I only saw a .002 variance between cases. Only downside is it can't do pistol shell cases.

Best case trimmer prep station on the planet.
This is one of the best case trimming stations I have ever owned. Solid construction and Hornady stands behind this equipment 100%.
