Q: Do you shampoo after using this?

Yes. The bottle says shampoo after use or use as an overnight treatment.

Q: Is this a suitable weekly treatment in-between washes for protective styles like box braids or does it have to be washed out?

The scrub definitely had to be washed out but the serum.. I’ve left it in before and I have done hair.. I’ve not had negative side effects from leaving it in and it actually cleared up some issues I had with dryness around my hairline.. rice water serum is another good one too, hope that helped a little

Q: Does this leave hair greasy or heavy?

I've only used the scalp detox scrub and it doesn't.

Q: Is this an oil or more of a thinner water based like serum?

More like a serum. It is exfoliating, so I wouldn't plan to leave it overnight or long term...at least without a spot test.
