It is classified as a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, MMORPG.The essence of the game in short form, is that you create a character on one of two sides, Alliance or Horde, and you play through the massive world of Azeroth. Currently there are several expansion packs which add additional content, but are not really necessary until you hit Level 60 (max level is 90). At level 60, you will need to purchase the expansion pack The Burning Crusade.Until then, you can enjoy questing solo in the areas, taking your time to read the quest descriptions and learning the story of Warcraft. When you are playing, there are areas that are seperated by level, 1-10, 11-15, 15-20, etc that you will be playing in. If you follow the quest lines you should generally stay in areas that are appropriate for your character level.There are also dungeons/instances that you can group up for. When Warcraft came out, you had to find your group by yourself and travel to the instance (where ever it was in the world). Now, you can simply use the Dungeon Finder and queue up for the instance as a Tank, Healer, or Damage. Each group is comprised of 1 Tank, 1 Healer, and 3 Damage players. Generally speaking, Tanks have an easier time finding groups, but some also believe it's more difficult to play as you are basically the leader of the group, you make sure all the enemies are attacking you and you protect the others. Each dungeon has a few bosses that your group will have to defeat, which will yield special gear that you can roll the dice for to see if you win it.Not all classes use the same gear and not all gear is created equal. This is something you will explore more in depth as you start the game.There are also professions that can keep you busy, from Alchemy, Blacksmithing, to Jewelcrafting, there are several professions that will provide hours of play time as you level each profession by creating new things.Creating these items also leads to the Auction House where you can sell your wares to other players. This can be very profitable depending on how many items you post and how much you sell for. Supply and Demand is a real concept in this player run economy and making the wrong choices can leave you with no profit.Overall, this game is excellent, there are many hours of fun to be had. You must pay a monthly subscription fee in the range of $15 a month, so be prepared for that. But if you think of it this way, most pay nearly $15 to see a 2 hour movie, this will give you 30 days of entertainment! The first month is included with the purchase of the base game, so at least you can try it before committing. But, this game is an absolute waste of time, in all senses of the word.It is not fun, it is not addictive, the only thing it manages to do is simulate work while you're supposed to be enjoying your leisure time.I completely regret making this purchase, and have canceled my account a LONG.. LONG.. LONG time ago.Countless players tried to dissuade me from doing so while I was still playing - just wait until 60, just wait until 70, just wait until 80.. That's all that this game seems to be - a waiting game. Watching a bar roll across the screen as you dispatch a monster arbitrarily over and over again, then finish the quest that asked you to kill ten of that monster, only to get a tiny bit of vendor trash from it, sell it, buy better gear, get a skill, move onto the next area.From Level One, the amount of time it takes to kill a single monster, stays consistent throughout the entire game. You basically just use more skills and smash more buttons while doing so - some players in the game equated this to 'skill', rather then sitting there and watching the equivalent of an interactive 'press the button now!' TV programme.Playstyles between classes seem to be a 'color filter' over the same rigorous process. Instead of dispatching the ten Ettins you needed with a sword, you can use daggers, claws, arrows, or magic. The difference is essentially null.Please, heed the advice of an old gaming enthusiast. Save your life, don't even start playing this game. Find something more valuable to do with your time. Read a book, write some fiction, read some philosophy - go to college, it'll do you some good. Just DON'T PLAY THIS GAME.

As someone who loves video games who is married, this game is perfect as my significant other one is also hooked. She likes the social aspects of it, I enjoy getting better items, PVPing, etc. Unlike most games, this game is basically neverending. We are both level 40 and don't play 24/7, but there is always something to do when we log on. Even at 60, I'm sure this will be the case..whether its more PVP, endgame raids, or simply helping out lower levels (not to mention any new updates Blizzard puts in).Back to the video game aspect. It's getting harder and harder to find good games that 2 players can enjoy on Xbox, Playstation, etc. My experience is usually a game is interesting for a month or so and gets boring. I know people (and I used to do this) who buy these 50 dollar video games, play for a few weeks, and move on to the next. I have a nephew who has spent over 500 on the PSP (if you really enjoy handhelds..its awesome, but why when you could play on computer, xbox, etc?).My point in all of this is that the 15 a month charge is NOT that much considering what I've spent almost 50 per game on in the past. WOW will keep us playing that one only for quite awhile at ONLY 15 a month? You mean I won't be tempted to buy a 50 dollar game every other week to play on xbox, computer or whatever? Sounds good to me..If you're playing WOW, you don't have time for other games. Playing casually during the week after work and maybe for whole afternoons on weekends, I think its worth the 15 a month. What's that you say? The xbox 3 and PS3 are coming out and in HD? Now you're really talking more $$$$. Nope, I'm having too much fun playing WOW at only 15 a month..LOL

Not that I'm complaining or anything but, I didn't get what I ordered. I ordered the first original WOW and when I received it, Mists Of Pandaria was in the box. The box was right but, the game wasn't. Like I said, I'm not really complaining since what I got was an upgrade from the original. However, I was a little disappointed since I'm familiar with the original.

WoW is the most addictive game on the planet. If you have an addictive personality I would steer clear of this. It wraps you into the world and will have you paying a monthly fee of about $15 a month for a life time. The game is fun but if you want to be productive with your time, this game is not for you.

これは良作です。まず操作感が非常に良いです。３Ｄの同種のネットゲームは多数あり、同様の操作方法なのですが、ＷｏＷに比べると体感的にしっくりと操作出来る物が何故かほとんどありません。ＷｏＷは直感的に操作して、それがそのまま画面内の世界で反映されるような感じです。マウスで視点をグルグル回すことに苦労する事がありません。世界観もよく出来ており仮想の異世界空間がゲーム内でよく反映されています。グラフィックは低スペックのＰＣでも快適に動くよう配慮されています。それがまた同時に分かりやすい地形空間を作っているようです。凝りすぎてどこに入れるか分からないＲＰＧをいくつか見てきましたが、このゲームではそういった事がなくストレスが溜まりません。一つ問題は全文英語表記という事です。このゲームでは数々のクエストをこなしていく内に行動範囲が徐々に広がりその世界観に飲み込まれていくというゲームバランスが絶妙なのですが、英語が分からないと５０％位しか楽しめない気がします。と、言うのもクエスト自体はどのモンスターを何匹倒す、誰にお使いする、といったものですので作業自体はパターンで行えるのですが、それですといわゆる単純なレベル上げになります。クエストをこなしてゆく内に物語の全容が把握出来、ＷｏＷの世界に引き込まれていくという事が英語圏でこれだけの接続者を生み出している背景にあります。その意味で中学高校レベルでもゲームは可能ですが、本来の面白さは半減しているかもしれません。ただ、英語学習と割切れば結構独特の古い言い回しはあるにしろ生きた英語に触れられるという意味では有用でしょう。ゲームとしては非常にバランスの取れた名作だと思いますのでお勧めです。

一つの狩場で延々と敵を倒して経験値を稼ぐ必要がないキャラが死んでもレベルが下がったり、経験値が減ったりしないソロプレイや時間があまりない方でも充分遊べるNPCにクエストを貰いながら徐々に世界を覚えていく感じがいいですグラフィックは他のゲームと比べれば決して良くはありませんが丁寧に作りこまれています今まで色々なMMOをプレイしてきましたがこのゲームが一番やりやすくて面白いです。日本語版が出てない、英語が苦手などで躊躇しているかたもいると思いますが中学生程度の英語力があれば充分です
