The music i have been searching for
Mixture of melody and harmonious vocals with poignant or gentle messages and then wonderful eclectic or discordant jazz or rock sounds building to magnificent climaxes. Came across him by accident for the first time live. Halfway through had a moment of epiphany and realised I had been searching for these sounds for nigh on 50 years. “Transcended” by his voice and the “sonic landscapes” he and his band create. So varied you will never be bored by his music and you will never avoid the goosebumps. But you will be bored by other music which afterwards seems so unidimensional.

Beautiful from start to finish
Patrick Watson appears to be so under the radar which after the body of work he has produced is pretty astonishing. This latest effort is absolutely top drawer. I think it is the most beautiful of the albums he has put out. It doesn’t deviate too much from mostly well constructed piano based melodies which anchor the songs with string arrangements prominent throughout.Previous recordings have always had a few off kilter tracks mixed in with beautiful ballad type efforts which I have always enjoyed with his high register voice sometimes stretched to the limit. However Wave just flows along pleasingly with the overall feel of the album not compromised by anything that might upset the mood. Not a single track disappoints so hard to pick a favourite but Here comes the River is truly wonderful so would go for that if pushed.Just me but listening to it all through left me feeling so relaxed and content.
