Awesome
First, this book was much larger and thicker than I thought it would be. Itis jam packed with useful information. Everything from dirty tactics like eye gouges and bites (and where to direct them) to joint locks, manipulations and breaks. As a huge bonus, there is a whole chapter on pressure points and the meridians theory, as well as a chapter full of possible drills and techniques to use in a real situation. Although the whole book is prety much about application (there are no forms/kata), this last chapter I just mention in the previous sentence almost acts like one to the rest. Funny enough, the author says its for the reader to "get the juices flowing" about how to use the tools he has most clearly explained to you.I'm not one who believes in learning martial arts from a book or DVD (you can't. period.) but you can definitely pick a few techniques and principles up from this book.

Pretty good book
This book has a different angle on ground fighting. It seems to be more for stand-up fighters who want to enhance their arsenal by adding joint locking and ground fighting techniques. It goes beyond giving you "tricks", however, because there are plenty of photos and illustrations on the mechanics of applying technique.Another good thing about this book is that you'll be given the option to control your opponent rather than flatten him or her (with a kick, punch, or throw).I recommend that you pick up a copy of this book.

incorporate joint locks into grappling
descriptions are concise and the photos are clear and step-by-step. as with any martial arts book, it cannot teach the beginner--there are fundamentals of any martial art that have to be experienced hands-on with a good instructor. but for the person with a bit of experience in grappling and body mechanics, this book can teach you to integrate the principles of wrestling and joint locks. excellent book for anyone looking to expand basic fighting skills to good self-defense applicable techniques.

Easy to use and follow, great read, great tips
This book is a must read for any serious martial artist. It shows hundreds of pages of Chin Na submission techniques from the very basic to the most advanced. The question where ground fighting began becomes clear after reading this book. Moderately experienced grapplers can easily learn these techniques as well.

A very useful book for the martial artist
As a martial artist in other disciplines that use pressure points I was interested to see the applications of Chin Na to holds and ground fighting. This book is a useful reference to complement other books I have on joint locks and holds.

Good information
This is about as good as it gets for a book. It is well put together with lots of information. This skill is best learned in person or by video but to brush up this book will work.

I did not like the pictures
Any book on Judo, Chin Na, or any grappling art needs above average pictures. I'm getting older but I thought the pictures in this book were at best average. The written content of the book I thought was very good. I just wish they would of spent more time putting larger more clear pictures in this book.

Great!
This book shows how to use and modify chin na so that it can be used on the ground. Chin na moves are typically used only while standing/crouching. Very good.
