Love this desk!
I was nervous to buy because there weren't many reviews, but I'm really glad I did! The desk is perfect for my small space. You can see in the photos that I have it up against a wall (you do need to move it about 6 inches out from the wall to allow the top desk to swing) so that I can collapse it when not in use. When I swing out the top portion, I can then sit facing my TV (not pictured), which is just what I wanted. The swivel mechanism is smooth and easy. Note that it's best to orient the desk so that the top surface is swinging. You can actually swivel out the bottom desk, but it's a little heavier and can cause the desk to shift positions a little bit. Since these photos, I've attached my computer monitor to the desk using a VIVO Single LCD Monitor Desk Mount, which I was able to clamp onto the bottom desk's top left corner (if looking at the photo of the desk closed). There's just enough overhang on the bottom desk to fit it. This prevents the top desk from opening to a full 90 degree angle, but only just slightly and it happens to work out better for my space to keep the top desk angled to about 70 degrees anyway. The benefit to the monitor arm is that it's stationary regardless of the position of the top desk, which means it's always pointing in the right direction. Another solution would be a lazy susan stand for the monitor. I actually have one under the little drawer set on the desk's top shelf so that I can open it in either orientation. My only issue is that the smaller desk top arrived with a deep crack on the underside. I was still able to put everything together, but I'm contacting customer service hoping they'll be able to replace that piece, as I'd like this desk to last a long time.UPDATE: I contacted customer service and they're sending out a replacement for the broken piece. They were very accommodating and friendly!

You better be good with assembly! Directions are vague
For the price it’s a great desk. The reason this gets knocked down is the assembly instructions. First if you curse while assembling IKEA furniture then get out your swear jar! If you successfully put this together without swearing then congratulations you just earned your PhD in furniture assembly. The pieces are clearly marked, it is the instructions which do not make a ton of sense, as they are very vague. Also a few of my metal pieces were damaged, unknown if it was manufactured defects orfrom shipping. Some of my welds snapped when bending them back to a 90 degree angle. I was able to fix, but not everyone can. Lastly some of the threaded nuts imbedded in the wood twisted out during assembly with little resistance, so I am moving this desk with extreme caution, probably the same caution I would use while transporting plutonium.

Broke After Moving From One Room to Another Room on the Same Floor
Had a few hiccups during assembly. None of the tiny pilot holes for the smaller screws to attach the legs and wheels were in the right place, so I had to pull out my drill for those. Attaching the spinning part (forget what its called) to the underside of the larger desk was a royal pain. The black parts in the shelving were also weird, but in general I like it.Update April 11th:We had to move the desk out of the room it was in to another room. When my brother in law lifted the desk from the desktop on the side as the shelves the metal bar pieces ripped out of the table top, along with the plastic inserts that the poles screwed into. We were able to reinsert it and I think the desk will be fine, but the bars look lopsided now.Recommend not moving it from the room you build it in, or take the shelf part off the tops of the deskUpdate July 31st. It's in ok shape still, but I'm very concerned about it being able to survive being disassembled to move house without breaking. Which is VERY frustrating giving the price.Update November 2021. We moved the desk to the other side of the room it was in, and the shelf part broke even worse, neither of the top pillar pieces will stay in place on either end of them, and shifting the desk even the tiniest bit causes the entire thing to collapse. I'm very disappointed with the quality/design of this product for the price.

What you would expect in “build it yourself” furniture
Once built, it looks great! However a piece of the desk came with a crack in it. I put that side against the wall so you can’t notice. The build was pretty straightforward, but the metal piece that holds the two sides and allows it to move freely was confusing and a pain to get on, mostly because the holes and what was supposed to go in them seemed like they were not a perfect fit.But...all that aside, if you can get through the build and don’t mind a possible imperfection, when extended it is big and has plenty of desk space. We did not use the piece that holds a desktop tower since we have pets and it being low to the ground can be a collector for hair. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Great desk, difficult assembly
The desk is great so far. The color is very nice (fortunately, not as yellow as some of the pictures would lead you to believe). While I use it in the L-shape, I do like the fact that I have the option to extend it out as one long desk. It's very spacious, and perfect for dual monitor use.The biggest flaw was with the assembly instructions. They were very difficult to decipher, especially given the relatively complicated nature of the desk's components. Also, attaching the legs requires you to manually insert screws, which ended up being fairly challenging as there are no pre-marked holes/indents in the wood. I ended up using my drill which made it simple, but I imagine others will struggle using the screwdriver. Speaking of which, they include a pretty decent screwdriver (with a magnetized tip), so that was nice.It was also fairly difficult putting together the center joint, which allows the table to rotate.I would definitely recommend having another person assist you in assembling the desk. It's certainly a tough one-person job.
