Our Go To Reeds
My daughter is in marching band and at the beginning of every season we purchased a box of these reeds. She likes the quality of them in her clarinet. They’re durable and it’s a good price for what you get.

Every reed in the box was great!
I used to be a Vandoren user solely. I've experimented with other, less-expensive brands in the past, and I settled on the Vandoren, because the quality was incredible. However, the price was ridiculous, and I was sick of buying a box of 10 reeds and only having 2-3 be good quality reeds. I needed a good, cheap box of Eb reeds for an upcoming concert, and I wasn't planning on sticking with the instrument too long (I'm primarily a Bb player), so I decided to settle. Yes, settling is wrong and shouldn't be encouraged, but I didn't want to shell out too much money for a box of reeds for a few rehearsals and one concert. I decided to do a little research. I've read a few reviews for the Rico Royal (I've used Rico in the past and absolutely hated it, so there were some bitter feelings there), and I decided to try it. It was only temporary, right?I got the box of reeds, and the first reed I picked was amazing! The quality of sound was great, and what are the odds of the first reed working so well? I tried another with the same results. And another, and another! Every reed in the box worked well, and I didn't have to throw a single one out! So, when it was time to reorder reeds for my Bb, I ordered the Rico Royal. Again, every reed in the box worked very well. I'll be sticking with these!

It's quite fine.
These reeds don't get 5 stars because they may not be the most, "fancy" reeds. Otherwise they're pretty good for any Clarinet starting their playing or not. If you're starting: pull down on the reed. Do not push up and out. Pull down and out. Then preferably put the reeds in a, "quality" reed case. Otherwise carefully insert (not push) the reeds back in. Insert them just enough so that you don't struggle to pull out the reed using your fingers. You should be able to pull it / slide it out without effort. Of course, take care of your reeds and hold it with your other hand. You can replace them at least every month or so. If you want to save try at least every 3 months. If not, try using them until they no longer produce a good sound. For middle school band: strength 2.5 to 4. Preferably 3 for 6th grade and consult your band teacher for 7th and 8th. Specially if you're going to do a special style band (eg: classic, folk, jazz, etc). Never touch the tip of your reed. Don't leave them in water for too long (specially for over 2 hours). Reeds are replaceable but SAVE YOUR MONEY. Between cleaning supplies, cork grease, and such stuff: you'll want to save your money. Specially if you plan to double on another instrument. Spend your money and buy clarinet reeds not just saxophone reeds or such. Non-clarinet reeds can change your sound.
