Just installed it and it is working good so far on that old whirlpool dryer!

My children have an issue overloading my washer, which then overloads my dryer, so i've gone through a couple of these. This full kit is very easy to understand how to replace. Has all the extra parts so I store some away. And I replace it on my own without my husband. Will likely have to purchase again. Thanks kids.

I can't attest to its longevity, so I'll write about what I do know.For the price you pay, it's ridiculously easy to put in. Of course, this may vary per your dryer, but for the Kenmore 500, it's basically, remove the back panel, which is six 1/4 in screws on the sides, 2 of them near the power cord, and 1 in the center, just below the power cord. Then it's pull 3 wires from their connectors, and 2 screws.The only thing different for the reverse is that the bridge connector from the thermostat to the heating element has a slightly different sized spade connector, and unless you don’t, or can’t, reuse the thermostat, then you’ll have to do some simple wire work. After it’s connected, everything is just the reverse of taking it out.Maybe 20 minutes total work time.For less than the price of a dinner for 2, you can get your dryer up and running again. So, you may not get something that will last years, but then again, if your dryer’s element is in shambles, chances are that it’s getting time for an upgrade anyways.As for the components, well the element looked pretty good. No loose wires, or broken ceramics, and that’s with USPS beating the box like a tether ball. Even though my thermostat tested good, I decided to change it out and save the other components for a rainy day, or a day in which another one failed. I’m too cheap to buy a new dryer.The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that the paperwork doesn't tell you what components are what, or a breakdown of where they go, or how to put them on. Somewhat important for people who have never done this before, thankfully though, the video on the product page is a great resource that does tell you.

Bought this in 2020. It lasted over 3 1/2 years. Better than similar other sellers, same price.

Worked but lifespan is short. Bought 2, first one lasted a year and second one lasted 8 months. Saved me from buying a new dryer but at this rate buy I’m better off buying a quality part to save money on the long run. Have the same issues as others, springs overheat and break.

i bought this for my kenmore dryer series 70 and it came in the next day ,got to love that!!!! if fit perfect for this dryer !!! so !!! happy i bought this one ,love it !!!! drys hot and fast

The headline says it all. Our Whirlpool electric dryer stopped heating, and the laundry was piled up. I ordered a replacement heating coil unit on Friday and it arrived on the weekend. The old unit was easy to diagnose with an ohmmeter (open circuit), and as soon as I knew that, I ordered the new part. It was straightforward to install with the help of a couple of YouTube videos, so we were back to drying clothes in short order. As with any electrical appliance repair, you must disconnect the power plug from the wall outlet before proceeding. I would say this is a repair for someone with a moderate to higher skill level since you are working with dangerous voltages and need a multimeter and understanding of electricity. When reconnecting the new element it can be a bit tricky to position the leads, which must not be able to short to the metal back cover of the dryer. Be sure all wires are reconnected and covers are back in place before plugging the dryer back in. The price of this part was less than 1/2 of the price from the manufacturer's website, but it is pretty much the same as the original and works great.
