Spitting Image: Complete Series [Region 2]

Lived in England 83-84. Loved this show. Very happy to find it even in the English DVD setting. I set my computer to run it and it works well.

Extreme humour as long as you can remember the 1980's

I lived in GB for many of the Thatcher years. This series was a must watch.Years later, I still find the show amusing. Unfortunately for its creators, political satire has reached ever higher standards. Many might find SI somewhat quaint, even tame, by modern expectations.

Leave it to the Brits - again - to break the envelope and create such riotous comedy. Somewhat like the genius of the south park guys viz: Team America but with more outrageous puppets. A definite buy.

I have just seems clips on the internet and will have to see if I can find a DVD player that plays PAL before I get it. Does anyone know if this set includes the election specials?

Great memories and depending how you look at it, funnily/sadly still relevant today. Pleasantly surprised with how quickly it arrived in this COVID world we are currently living in, as I expected it to take another week or so. The description does say Season 1, however it is actually Seasons 1 through 7 spread over 11 disks. A great buy for the price and very rewatchable.

Da ich schon zu den mittelalterlichen Semestern gehöre kenne ich Spitting Image noch aus der Zeit, als es neu war. Damals schon fand ich es sehr unterhaltsam. Zwar muss ich heute - vor allem bei den ganz ersten Folgen - sehr genau nachdenken, wer manche Personen sind, aber das stört die Unterhaltung keineswegs. ACHTUNG: wer des Englischen nicht so gut mächtig ist, Hände weg und zuserst ein bisschen besser üben - es gibt keine deutsche Tonspur und auch keine Untertitel. Ansonsten UNBEDINGTE KAUFEMPFEHLUNG.

So much genius for so little money. Unless "you were there", you're unlikely to get the best out of this box set. For those of us who grew up to Spitting Image, the cold war, the westland affair, miners riots, wapping, and Thatcher, then this box set is a gateway to the peculiar but visionary talent assembled for the creation of a TV series which will never be made again (by the producer's own admission). Spitting Image as a vehicle spawned so many careers, yet is often overlooked (probably because it was topical satire).If you remember the news stories, then the content therein is still fresh and you will be transported back in time as you watch. If you don't remember or are too young to remember, then there are still extremely amusing nuggets of comedy there - and in fact some of my favourite sketches were borne of pure silliness. "Now, every time I say 'kangaroo', you HEAR 'kangaroo'".Very very pleasing indeed. And I still pronounce it "your anus", not "ooh rannus".

bought this as a xmas present this year for my father, he enjoyed the series 8,9 and 10 that i bought him fathers day from amazon, so decided i would get the box set of series 1-7 for xmas, im sure he will enjoy watching them over xmas and new year, hes on hes own and watches a lot of dvds in winter time, realy good value i thought for all those dvds, think there are 11 discs in the set, would highly reccomed this dvd to others who liked the show when it was on tv many years ago! its lovely that amazon sell all the old series of shows we all used to love to watch!

After thirty years, still a lot of fun, but of course, some of it is very dated. I had trouble remembering who some of the protagonists were........ but a lot of laughs, and some very Special moments. Try Stings Spitting Image Version of "every breath you take" at the end of the last Episode of the first series. Technically the recordings are not too hot, a Long way away from hD, but that is Logical, and doesnt matter too much.
