I've now done with Bodum - time to move on (an update)
The product always arrives safe and secure but this is now the third glass container I've had for my cafetiere. so I just wish the product itself was somewhat more robust and didn't break so easily. November 2015 (Update March 2016) I posted a review on this item last November, when I last ordered a replacement beaker. Unfortunately this last one has survived all of 3 months and so I've now done with this item. The 3 replacements I've bought over the last several years seem to have become steadily worse - either the glass seems more fragile and/or the fit of the glass in the frame is less sure. This last replacement was the worst fitting of the lot, the glass almost rattled in the frame when it was moved about. I've been a fan of Bodum for many years. I used to live in Paris where my 'cafetierre' (as the item is known as there) was in constant use. I never had any problems at all with its use, but I seem to remember that the glass I used at that time actually had 'Bodum' on the side of it. I strongly suspect the glass containers I've been receiving over the past two years are nowhere near the same quality of the original I once had.

Usual good quality from Bodum BUT!....
I have always used Bodum presses...not sure why - lol. I’m a little snobby when it comes to coffee and I have found bodum is the best press out there. I have the largest one they make and still have the same frame from 20 years ago...but have replaced the glass many times (since I have been married and have another person handling the press, lol) in the past 5 years. The last glass was only 3 weeks old and the wife was “tearing a paper towel off the roll” and knocked it into the sink. -insert rolling eye emoji here- I didn’t want to spend the $35 on new glass so I opted for the $25 version. Well.....it fits BUT!.....it’s a little shorter and does not have a pour spout. Not a huge deal if you are very deliberate in your pouring. I pour into two cups and then a thermal carafe....and need to do a faster pour to eliminate dripping. We’ll see how I feel about it in a couple weeks. Still very high quality as usual from Bodum so 5 stars from me.

Correct beaker, but need to immerse in hot water to fit
This beaker is the correct size, but it's necessary to immerse the holder in hot water to expand the holder so the beaker will fit into the holder. If you try to put the beaker into the holder it will not go in all the way. The other thing is "buyer beware" because the product in the box did not come with any kind of styrofoam or cardboard padding to secure the glass in any way. The beaker is just the glass all by itself in the box. I also selected that the item be shipped in an Amazon box, but it came in a flimsy envelope with no padding whatsoever. It was a miracle that the glass was not broken! I also prayed that God would protect all my deliveries and that they would arrive undamaged.

Don't bother replacing your glass, just buy another brand's french press.
I assume that you too have ended up with broken glass on your french press. And maybe it was your fault, but befor you spend at least twenty bucks to replace it, here is my story on the glass breaking that was NOT my fault. In the glass from my initial french press, ordered directly from the company, after only a few weeks of use, the glas developed a stress fracture and leaked during a cold brew. Several important points: -I ONLY cold brew in room temperature, boiling water has never touched the glass, -I hand wash them myself, with the skill of someone who spent 4 years in college washing extremely delicate lab glassware -after detailing the above to their "customer service", I was met with an impersonal generic reply, with most of the points completely refuted in my initial email. A company that does not communicate with customers or stand by their products and fix errors of manufacturing is not one to be trusted, I'd look elsewhere for a more reputable brand. Seriously, for the price they put on parts you might as well just buy a new press

Perfect
I broke the glass on my 8-cup Bodum locking lid cafetiere and this is what came up when I ran a search for a replacement. My first cafetiere uses spouted glass and has never needed a replacement - I've had it for about 10 years. This cafetiere that uses spoutless glass was one my husband got me last year. I've found that it's not the glass that is the problem, but the combination of the sealed lid creating suction during removal and wet hands making it easy to slip out and break. I've always washed the glass in the dishwasher; never had issues as I am careful to put it in the upper rack and place it so it does not come into contact with other items during the cycle (the directions to use a plastic/wooden utensil when stirring the grounds is the same logic applied when washing). The replacement glass is slightly looser in the frame than the original, but works effectively (the locking lid keeps it in place). User unfriendly
Glass needs a lip to avoid spills

My original beaker developed a crack after many years of use and I feared that I would have to replace my French Press until I found this item. It replaces the original perfectly, the only quibble, if it can be described as such, is that it seems to be made of slightly thicker glass which means that it must be pushed down firmly to get it to fit snugly into the bottom of the holder. However, the thicker glass means that it will probably be less liable to crack if accidentally tapped whilst being washed. Overall, a very good buy and thoroughly recommended.

Danke
