Great book, and a solid choice for beginners. Just some additional info below.
I wanted to incorporate some Manga elements into some of my cartooning, so I picked up this book along with four others. This seems like one of the best. A few pros/consPros:- To start with, the book is gorgeous. There's tons of color and great illustrations. The physical quality of the paper and the printing is excellent as well. You could almost leave it out as a coffee table book.- Strikes a good balance between starting at the beginning and talking down to the reader. Some of the books I've found (even beginner ones) assume skills that aren't really universal. Others seem to want to start by explaining what a pencil is. This one started at the beginning but was challenging.- There is a nice progression. The book takes you through various aspects of a finished drawing piece by piece, breaking it down in a very logical way.- Includes some very cool topics not really approached in other books. Specifically, non humans. It's nice to see them tie some drawing basics into something a lot of other books handle as almost "mysterious."- The drawings in this book seemed much more polished than those in some of the other books. It's hard to describe exactly what i mean, but in some of the others, the end product is more "cartoony" than I would have liked. Sort of a silly criticism to make of a book about Manga, but it's the best way I can describe the difference. A lot of other books have artwork that just seems flat.Cons:- I say this about every single drawing book, so I don't take stars off for it, but why can't they make these coil/spiral binds? Every single person using this book is going to want to have it open while they have their hands busy with the lesson they are working on at the time, why not set it up to lie flat. Just a pet peeve, but I'm hoping someday a publisher might notice (Pro tip: you can get things coil bound at fed ex kinko's for five bucks or so, well worth the frustration you'll save).- There was a lot of included artwork that, while gorgeous and interesting, wasn't really helpful to actually learning anything. I really enjoyed it, so I'm not taking stars off for it, but I could see someone feeling like the book wanders from the point a little. If you are interested in learning some Manga techniques, this book is an excellent choice.

I love having this as a tutorial book and just generally ...
I really admire this artist's tutorial books, its a break away from really generic anime style tutorial books into a more stylized modern way of drawing and designing anime styled drawings. I love having this as a tutorial book and just generally to have beautiful high quality images of her work. My favorite feature in the book is the animal section, I feel like she has the most charming way of drawing animals and I would recommend this book to any artist of any skill level for that alone. I love the tidbits about her personal journey as an artist, I find them extremely encouraging and heartfelt. The book itself is high quality with slightly glossy pages. I've been casually drawing for a few years and was easily able to follow her tutorials with satisfying results. She is my absolute favorite tutorial book for anime and manga right now and I highly recommend it over most other anime tutorial books.

Always love Camilla's art books
Always love Camilla's art books. This book is full of my favorite artworks. There is a lot of detailed step by step pictures of how to draw each element, body parts. Really useful on perspectives. When you view body parts from a slanted view, that is really helpful. Everything shown in detail. This makes me appreciate her art more!. Even if you are not an artist or trying to learn how to draw, it can help you to understand what it takes to make art and appreciate it more. I wish she can make a part 2 of this book with even more artworks and explainations , especially of the kawaii art like the Hello Kitty one, and the Princess Jedi one. Just love!

Fun Book with Great Drawings
Great book! I bought this as a gift for a talented, 11-year old girl who was tutoring my daughter in general elementary school studies. She was so excited, I thought she was going to jump into orbit.I later found out that she had been desperately trying to get her mom and dad to buy this book to no avail. I was very glad to be able to put this book in her hands. She was already a good artist, and she had her artwork hanging up in the county library.Overall, I think this book is more at the intermediate to advanced level. In my opinion, there are better choices out there for beginners.

4 stars and a half, excellent for beginners
The book covered a lot of important topics, I do feel very inspired whenever I look at it and feel like I could spend hours just drawing. The issue is just that it doesn't cover a lot of styles, it's mostly just the artist's personal style mixed with the generic anime style which is completely fine especially if you are a beginner but I would have personally preferred if there was most advice on drawing different body shapes and face structure, all the girls are skinny with thigh gaps, all the guys are square, I like to have a variety of characters and I would really love a book that can show me how to draw chubby boys and girls and characters that are bulky or got muscle, this book just covers the basics.my animation teacher loves this book and so do I and I always recommend it to others and so does he, I will suggest making another book focusing on different styles or shapes etc, i love Camilla's style very much and this book helped me with hands and feet but it doesn't change the fact that my style is very different than hers.I would say definitely buy it if you have problems with hands, feet and aging characters or if you are a beginner wondering where to start,

Great manga book to learn from
When I first came across this book at Barnes and nobles I knew I had to get it but I didn't because I thought I would get a better deal on Amazon. And I did! Wow this book is so amazing I love the art work, colors and how everything is explained on depth of drawing. Not only that but the author makes it fun to read and encourages you to draw :)

Good book for learning Manga.
I like this book a lot, it has a great approach to starting your journey in learning the Manga art style. The illustrations are great, and the writing style is sometimes humorous, keeping the book engaging. I especially like the parts with "Inku". This book is filled with great advice, for instance, it recommended the blue Pilot Eno pencil, which now I couldn't live without. All in all, this is a very detailed (but not overwhelming) study guide for Manga.

A good book for a total beginner in my opinion
I found this book in a library the first time, it was the 2384387th book I tried to use to learn how to draw convincing manga/anime girls and I was pleasingly surprised when this author's simpler method got me staring at my paper, wondering how I've finally cracked it.Her style is peculiar, it would probably be better for a painting than actual manga stories, but it's DEFINITELY worth a look. I had to buy it just to have it in my collection and as a way to thank her for her awesome work. 5 stars here.

Best manga tutorial available by far
Amazing step by step instructions with good humour. Ive tried loads of "how to draw manga" type books. This is the first one that has truly felt right for me. I love her style and her artwork is incredible. Honestly, ignore all other manga drawing books and get this one!
