Nyce NCZ-3014-HA ZigBee Garage Door (Tilt) Sensor

Tiny, reliable and the only tilt or door sensor that worked for my range challenged application. Note that the person that gave 2 star review in May 2015 mentioned he bought it from Lowes, but that is the IRIS compatible part NYCE NCZ-3014 not the same as this Amazon sourced part NYCE NCZ-3014-HA. The -HA in the part number is important difference as the HA will work with other hubs like the Smarttings hub V2 which is what I have and the part without the HA in the name will only work with IRIS. I wanted a tilt sensor for my mailbox door that opens vertically, it simplifies the installation and its more reliable than the 2 part magnetic door sensors for this type of application. I tried them all and they would work sporadically, seemed to be a range issue and even after adding a ZigBee and a z-wave range extenders and trying ZigBee and z-wave sensors none would work reliably. The only one left to try was this the NYCE NCZ-3014-HA from Amazon, but unfortunately its hardly ever stocked, I had it on my wish list for 5 months and tracked it every day and finally a couple of weeks ago it showed up as available I got it, installed it and it worked flawlessly. I've spent so many hours trying so many sensors and trying to get this working its a wonderful thing to finally have this challenge resolved.

I purchased this item in August of 2017 to work with my Smartthings hub. For about 2 months it worked ok. After that is keep dropping off line and not working. I tried everything including change the battery, move the sensor, move the hub much closer. I place the sensor about 1 foot from the hub and it seamed to go to sleep and NOT work. I removed the sensor from the hub and tried to reconnect but the hub would not recognize the sensor. Looks like I wasted $40.00. I rate this sensor a ZERO!

I have over 150 zwave devices and this was the first and only zigbee device i have..First it paired easily and it responds nice and fast..Tiny to...Seems well made..Only thing is they should of gave some sort of a holster to mount it to the garage door..I think i am going to use some velcro to mount it..I am looking for some more zigbee stuff for my vera plus...Great little device...

It was easy to connect to Amazon Echo Plus, but doesn't work very well, most of the time it says its open.

Pretty good but a little slow to update status and always shows as offline in SmartThings. But it works reliably.

This was the first ZigBee device I purchased for my VeraPlus controller. All the rest have been zwave devices. It worked great and was easy to pair. I will be purchasing another for my 2nd garage door and possibly one for the mailbox so I will know when the mail has been delivered.

I am very disappointed with the NYCE devices I purchased. Not recognized at all by Smarthings and no useful response from the company. Just returned it.

Works well with SmartThings. But I wanted to use it as a mailbox door sensor. It doesn't register a change unless it is tilted for more than 5-6 seconds. Apparently our mailman is quicker than that.
