Seiko Quality Throughout
Seiko makes a good mechanical watch...I have a collection of them. I particularly liked the color of this one. It's time-keeping is spot on with quality seen throughout its construction. Buy with confidence.

The Avocado is a fun addition
This is a solid, very wearable, and easy to read piece. I’ve seen other reviews stating that the NATO strap isn’t great, I disagree. It’s a quality strap. The lume is excellent and the Avocado dial (texture and color) is fantastic. This is a wonderful add to my collection. One negative: lacks a screw down crown.

Awesome watch with a unique Avacado dial
This is awesome watch. Love the Avacado dial and amazing value for the money. Size is right for my small 6.25 inch wrist. The only thing I didn't like is the Nato strap that makes the watch sits tall. I bought a silicone strap that only cost $12.99 and solved that problem.

Really great for the price
Some don't like how tall this stands on the wrist, but I really like that particular look on this watch. The black metal looks amazing on the green, and the textured background is nice to look at. The colors overall are just perfect, and the orange seconds hand stands out. The bezel is easy to move around but lacks a little to me in crisp clickage. The NATO band is nice and offset crown is good too. A screw down crown would make this even better. Overall this was a great addition to my watch collection and I'm satisfied with the amount it costs.

Field Watch with Character
Summary: Wow, what a cool watch! Seiko nailed soooo many things, but they couldn’t get out of their own way on the strap and the cost. Would I buy it again for myself? Yup! As a gift for someone else? Definitely…but only if I also gifted them a quality strap along with it. Seiko is frustrating sometimes, and this watch is a prime example. That being said, this watch is too awesome to have less than 4 of 5 stars. Score: Impression: 5 / 10 (+5 w/ new strap) Understated character. Not exactly eye catching, but for a field watch, the impression is off the charts if you move on from the included strap. Style & execution: 10 / 10 Traditional field watch, and in this regard Seiko nailed it. Probably one of their best attempts at this style that I have seen. Minimal, simple, clean, functional, yet aesthetically satisfying. Also makes a fantastic casual dress watch by swapping the strap out. Unidirectional bezel is also an awesome touch as this is often omitted from field watches. Wanna wear: 10 / 10 I have a lot of watches to choose from, and this watch falls into the class of watch that I enjoy wearing when the situation fits. Hiking and lounging favorite. Movement value: 3 / 10 Equivalent to Seiko NH36 which I am very familiar with. Great movement, industry standard. That being said, the price tag doesn’t match the movement. Cost of the movement for a consumer is ~$70, 30% cost of the watch. Other manufacturers using NH36 get this up to 50%, why can’t Seiko if they are making the movement in-house? Band / Strap: 2 / 5 Biggest flaw with this otherwise awesome watch. When I first unboxed, I loved the color but the durability was a concern. Not very good quality nylon. Not flimsy but they could have done much better at this price point. I rolled my eyes because I knew I was going to have to replace it. Did I just spend +$200 to have to spend more? But I gave it a fair shot though and wore it for about week before the hole started stretching. I wasn’t able to find that nice green color, so I went with a dark brown leather NATO strap (link at the bottom) Totally brings the watch to a whole new level. My knock on the included strap is the quality at the price point. Ergonomics: 5 / 5 Field watch perfection. Lightweight, no sharp edges, balanced, not too big, not too small. Dial: 5 / 5 Excellent! Great contrast between the markings and dark face. This is what you want in a field watch. The artistic finish is amazing, good touch Seiko. My attached photos should show the crinkled surface finish that gives good character in the sunlight. Hands: 5 / 5 Same as the dial, good contrast. Orange seconds hand is also a very strong nod to the intended functionality. Well done, Seiko. Lume: 4 / 5 Industry standard. I have seen brighter out of other manufacturers in recent years, but Seiko doesn’t seem to want to adjust their formula anytime soon. Bezel: 5 / 5 Good mechanism, stiff, doesn’t rotate unless you intentionally want it to. Markings are very legible! Not luminescent, but the satin finish makes it surprisingly easy to read in low-light. Excellent traction as well. Crown: 5 / 5 Low-profile and tactile. At this price, I want the ability to screw the crown in and protect it from whatever mayhem I’m putting it through. That being said, Seiko tucked it into the case pretty nicely so I have no concerns. Case: 5 / 5 Gunmetal finish is awesome. Clear backside also pretty cool and shows just how size-efficient this watch is. Conclusion: I love this watch! It’s a great and unique addition to my lineup. Highly recommended. But the margin on my judgement for this review going the other way is very thin. The new Seiko Sport 5 line is a missed opportunity for Seiko to adjust to the increasing number of watch companies making equally great timepieces with a much more friendly price tag. They could have added value with a much better strap and keep the movement at the same price point OR keep the strap but lower the price by $50. But they didn’t. Seiko needs to wake up, because their cost of value on watches like this is approaching dangerously close to turning off consumers like myself considering what other companies are doing. I’m already one of them. I used to get excited seeing new Seiko product lines announced, but I have lost interest at their prices being consistently being at least $50 more than what I think I should be paying.

it's terrific value for what you're getting.
So far it's pretty great. I followed the instructions that came with it and it's operated flawlessly for about a week with daily use. I haven't lost or gained any minutes yet, so that's refreshing. I've gotten several compliments and a few surprised looks when people realized I was wearing a Seiko. Let me tell you though, I've been wearing this over other much pricier watches and I'm not regretting it. Its comfortable, it's good looking, it's automatic movement has been spot on, it's luminance or SuperLumo whatever is brighter and longer lasting than most of my other watches. I think I'll continue to like it for years to come. Good purchase.

This watch it's a winner
A military green vibe, great price and quality for an automatic watch. Even the Nato strap works right.
