This piece is called a platter, but I'd say that it's something between a platter and a shallow bowl. Overall it's almost 2 inches deep, so it's perfect for dishes that are a little saucy. The center, deeper portion measures about 12" x 7 1/2. The shape is very interesting - looking like it was thrown by a potter (of course it's not) rather than formed in a mold. This is my third serving piece in this line. I have two covered casseroles that are also stylish and very functional. The dishes are a pure white and go well with Cuisinart porcelain dishes I also bought on Amazon.

We use this all the time at dinner. Beautiful platter and deep enough to hold liquid so it won’t spill. We use it for juicy meat off the grill. Good quality.

I've spent over $500.00 buying this stuff (6 place settings in celadon plus serving wear in white). I love it and have gotten lots of compliments on it. In general I have found the oval pieces in this collection to be more attractive than the round pieces. This oval platter is one of my favorites in the collection.By the way, I was somewhat concerned by the web pictures and the description of the collection as "glossy." I was afraid this would translate to a cheap iridescence in the pieces. Fortunately, this was not the case at all. The shine on the pieces is subtle; not offensive at all.I am also happy to say that despite daily use, not one piece has chipped yet.

I saw these dishes at a department store. Just knew I could save cash therefore allowing me to buy more. So I looked on line and sure enough...I was able to get my maximum! They are just beautiful and exactly what I needed for my new home.

Beautiful, sturdy, mellow color, looks like hand created (it's not), very classy. We use this entire line in celedon and white in our catering company.Only regret - it's made in China.

Hi there. I ordered the large oval platter, expecting the 17" platter listed on the Portmeiron site. Instead, I received the medium oval plate - 14". Very disappointing. Please change your title for this item to medium. I will be returning the item and purchasing the actual large oval for the same price from another source.
