BEWARE FOR HORSE OWNERS! PLEASE READ!!
Yes! This will turn your animal (and you!) black as The Black Stallion himself! I give it 5 stars because the product WORKS! But I've seen other people try using it on their horse. TEST IT FIRST! I tried it on my sun bleached Friesian and the first time was fine but the second time at first he seemed fine but became noticeably irritated after about 10min which is not normal during a bath. I rinsed him and he had some hives but soon was ok and no other issues. SO TEST IT!!!! I would, on the other hand, use again for mane and tail but take care because it WILL dye anything it touches so I recommend a tail bag to prevent black streaks across their butt (or your face!)IF you insist on trying it, here's some recommendations:WEAR FULL BODY COVERING! You will look like an appaloosa or be accused of black face if you leave skin showing, no matter how careful you are! Don't wear your white Nikes...Use a pressurized pump garden sprayer or similar to get an even "coat" and rub it in THOROUGHLY as you go. Fine mist spray bottles WILL NOT WORK.For a 16.2h horse you WILL USE the whole box, I'd buy a second because you don't want to get done and find a light spot that you cannot correct - ask me how I know...WASH YOUR HORSE WITH SOAP FIRST! ANY grease, conditioner or fly spray WILL resist the dye causing blotches. It will lighten slightly after a week or two especially if in the sun but overall color will last for quite a while.Again, test it first and listen to your animal!! GOOD LUCK!

Horse application
This stuff isn’t as black as the dog hair dye we used on our horse’s face, and she reacted slightly to it - reaction stopped instantly when we rinsed her thoroughly. This dye is thin and applied with a sprayer, so suggest you use the thicker, more expensive dog dye that has the salon mixing whisk, bowl, and brush bundled with it for application to your horse’s face. We dyed her face last, and went over a couple areas that weren’t as black on her body, which caused a couple darker splotches we will have to touch up with more of the face dye- that was on us though, so I am telling you this so you can avoid the part of the learning curve that tripped us up. Watch the time on mane and tail, we left it on about 8 minutes too long, causing some breakage on her ends. Still a solid result though.

Great Product but MESSY !
I have used many different enhancing shampoos and other products but this definitely a dye. It is tricky to find online for a good price and even though it took awhile to deliver Amazon sellers tend to have the fastest turn around time.Used on a black horse with white socks. Used oils and Vaseline to protect the white socks and some of the drops still made it through and stained the white grey. Used on some of the white hairs that were coming through on his coat and browning spots (from sun) on his flank. It dyed them DARK ! A+ for an all black animal. It only takes a second to stain a non black area. Also note this dye is matte black if you have an animal with an extremely shiny black color this will dull out the coat to a flat black. I used a moisturizing treatment afterwards on the hair (the second time I used the product) and it did help restore some of the shine. No really strong odors or chemical smell but this is MESSY! Prepare many set of thick gloves and plastic out. Stained concrete for months.

Effective easy to use dye for livestock
This definitely works well to get to that sun damaged red hair on a steer back to beautiful shiny black before the show, but we learned a few things using it:1. In the videos we watched before trying it, the steer seemed so calm like it was no big thing - but our boy did NOT like it. He gets rinsed and washed all the time and is usually so calm, but when we sprayed this on he jumped around and nearly knocked over the stanchion, making us think it must sting or be irritating when it goes on. So, be prepared and have a helper around in case your animal is sensitive to it. Once it was rinsed, he was fine and there was no sign of skin irritation or damage.2. It is very messy!! You will get black dye everywhere (especially if your animal doesn’t stand very still - see above)! Wear the gloves, have extra pairs for when the provided gloves rip and wear long sleeve clothes you don’t mind ruining.3. It takes a lot of dye to cover a steer. This package says it’s for up to a 1000lb steer. That’s probably about right. If you’ve got a larger animal, you’ll want to have 2 packs. You don’t want to run out with one section of your animal left to do.4. It does fade with time/washing so don’t do it too far ahead of your show. We did it about a week before and he still looked good, but it had faded a little (with daily rinsing, no soap).Over all, our steer looked amazing after using this stuff so I would recommend it and I’ll use it again, but I give it 4 stars since it seems like it might burn when you put it on.

My Horse Is Now Black!
This is the best stuff ever!!! My horse needed to go undercover from the people that kept trying to steal him from me. Now he's safe! I might actually keep it up because he's absolutely gorgeous now! I didn't even condition his hair after and he's still super shiny! Thanks Weaver!!!

Use as directed and it’s amazing
Used this for my horse for a special event. Works great just make sure you follow the directions exactly as you’re supposed to. And big word of advice-if you need to protect white socks, use CRISCO, and lather it on! But only keep it on the white as it works that good as keeping the black from getting to the white.
