I'll start by saying that these boots run about a size too small. I normally wear a 12 but had to return the 12s they sent me. I reordered a size 13 wide and they fit me snug in a comfortable new shoe kind of way. After wearing them for the last week they seem to be loosening up and forming to my feet. Overall they are a very comfortable boot and they feel very sturdy. I haven't tested the water-proofing yet but as a delivery driver I will no doubt have an opportunity soon. I'll leave an update if there is a problem. The zipper feels rugged and sturdy. They even sound substantial when zipping them up and down. The velcro tab also seems to have been improved on since some of the reviews of these boots have been written. It is thick and stitched as part of a larger piece of the boot material that includes the lace holes and lots of double stitching. I don't see it coming off or wearing out any time soon. The insoles are firm but have plenty of cushion at the same time. I also wear insoles for 200+lbs people but the combination is really nice. The soles feel very rugged with plenty of grip. I noticed right away that they don't slide on smooth surfaces, such as tile or hard wood, like my last few pairs of boots have had issues with. I'd definitely buy these again.Update: after wearing these for several months I've decided that these are literally the best boot ever. I have worn these daily through tens of thousands of steps. Up and down driveways, stairs, through yards and alleys. Puddles ankle deep. These boots fear nothing. I'm excited to see how they perform on an icy day. I've mostly worn them through the spring and summer now. But they are true beasts. And not only that but I've received several comments on how good they look. I have nothing but good things to say about these boots. If I can wear these boots out, someday I will be replacing them with the same pair. Excellent quality.

The boot is lightweight and very comfortable. The boot is also very sturdy made and the bottom gives an amazing grip to any surface. I would definetly buy again.

I like tactical, waterproof, and side zip boots. These Thorogood boots fit that bill. I got these for my part time job. I reviewed a lot of boots and tried another brand before ordering these.I like the looks of these boots. I like the tread. They seem well made. I like that they have a larger than most pull strap on the back of the boots, and it makes it a lot easier to grasp onto. I like that these are lightweight. I found them easy to lace up. I like the Velcro closure over the zipper is longer than most boots I've ever worn.I was not impressed on how it seems the zippers are not all that easy to zip up. They are rough working so to speak. These were not as comfortable as I hoped they'd be, but they are not all that bad. For some reason, the right boot rubs my leg at the top of the boot on the outer side of my leg, and also the right heel insole feels a little rough. I found that I had to unlace the very top speed hooks in order to ease the rubbing. I also am going to have to put some sort of cushioned insoles in the boots.I normally wear a size 12 in footwear. I ordered these in a 12. With thicker socks, there is not really any room to spare, and I found that I was unable to get the more expensive and cushioned footwear inserts to fit in the boots and still get my foot in them. For some reason, the right bootlace kept coming untied, while the left one stayed tied just fine. I ended up replacing the laces with some Lock Laces. Time will tell on how well these boots hold up. A coworker has a pair just like these and has been quite pleased with them and their durability. I will update this review with anything I find to the contrary. After a break-in period, I believe that these boots will be fine and will accept a nicer cushioned insert. I rate these Thorogood boots 4.5 stars.Hopefully, this honest helps someone.
