ASA Visual Flight (VFR) Kneeboard ASA-KB-1

Something that was much needed for convenience and serves the purpose well.

Having a kneeboard seems to help me remember ATC information. I tried a tri-fold but it was too wide, and interfered with the stick movement in an Evektor Sportstar. This is just narrow enough to give the stick free movement. I don't care there isn't room for a pencil, as I carry one in my pocket. The Velcro seems to stick well enough to keep it secure on my leg.

Great kneeboard. All new pilots should have one, really. I spent my whole training as a student pilot without this, and balancing my small notebook on one leg with my map on top of everything wasn't easy. I was constantly losing crucial things and embarrassing myself. Now that I made it past all that, I'm excited to go on cross countries and test out my new system with this kneeboard. Its nothing terribly fancy, a metal clipboard with a strap on it. I was laughed at when I excitedly sat down on my coffee table and strapped it to my leg, but what do they know? Buy this kneeboard! Good quality, good information printed in an organized format, and most importantly, awesome price.

Medium quality.

This has been a good product. I started using it with 5X8 card stock for taking notes, checklists and so on. I superglued two small earth magnets on it so it holds my mechanical pencil firmly in place. Now I am using it to hold my iPad Mini and it works like a dream. The cover fits nicely under the clasp and the iPad folds over. Stays in place and works well. It has made flying much easier.

I keep this strapped to my leg while driving and use it to write on a tablet for something I hear on the radio. You do not need to look at it . Anyone can write just by writing on the tablet. So theres no need to take your eyes off of the road. Pilots use them to carry maps they have cut off in strips and fan folded them when in a small aircraft. The kind I am used to is plastic and has a curve to fit over your thigh. They are still strapped on though. We used these in the military but for taking notes while driving they are a good idea. Like jotting down a phone number or web site and not having to fumble looking for a piece of paper and a pen. The board holds a pen as well

There is no pretense to this piece of equipment. It is as simple and functional as it gets, which is a good thing. I am using this as a student pilot and the VFR information printed on the board is helpful reference material to have at hand. I also like that it is lightweight and compact.
